Headed down to the Ct river in Windsor Locks today in search of stripers.
I worked my butt off in a spot I have good luck in.
Today it only gave me one 14" schoolie.
Had to leave to give my Niece a ride
then headed back out to the river at 3:30pm.
Headed to another spot that looked real good to me and now that the water levels dropped a bit, I could get in there and fish.
Not another soul in site, except for boaters floating by, I had the place to myself.
I was using a 3/8oz jig with a perl white fin-s with a little added color of red to it's belly.
Cast out as far as my arms would allow me, I bounce bottom (lost countless jigs) back to me.
I kept this up and on the forth cast, Fish on!!!
Nice 19" schoolie. kept at it and landed 10 more, all between 14" to 19".
It died down, so I moved up river a little, and started bouncing bottom
and had a strange hit, with lots of head shakes?????
Got her in, and low and behold, I landed an 17" Searun Brown.
Last year I landed my first Searun brown that went 19 1/2".
    Life is good.
I ended up with 18 schollies and The searun brown and called it a day.
As was walking back, I decided to try one more spot, and landed
two more, one hit right as I was pulling it out of the water to cast again, these two were bigger, 21" And 22" hummm, one more cast
and I got a good solid hit, and the drag was screaming. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I knew this was a good fish, everytime I would start to gain some
ground ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ off it went again, this repeated 4 more times
before I was able to get a good look, My First Keeper!!!!
Now I really want to land this baby but I'm on such a steep bank
I can't bend over to lip it, so as I started to turn it towards the shore line, I give it all I got and slid her up on shore,
and with her tail pushing on the ground I reach, lip her and She's Mine!!!!
29" Striper, 9.5lbs!!! Yeeee Haaaaaaa, a new PB for me.
Life is good. We will be eating her on Friday.
I promised a good friend of mine, if I got a keeper I'd bring it home for her. She was a very happy lady when I showed up at her door,
with the catch of the day.
I'm mainly a fresh water Girl, but after that fight from the big girl
I can't wait to do it again. The Dark Side is calling, and I'm listening.
    Life is Good.
