May 19, 2006 I had a charter booked with Stan’s charter on Raystown Lake, just south of Huntingdon Pa.
We arrived on May 18 checked into the motel then went to Snyders Landing, went out fishing on my boat that we had with us. Around dark we returned to the dock talked to a few of the locals and went to the motel, called Stan to check on the time we were to go out the next morning.
At 0500 we were at Snyder Landing and Stan was ready to go, the first thing he said (after we had left the dock) was, I heard you have your own boat with you so dose that mean you want me to do teach you how to catch stripers so you can go do it on your own and fish out all my good spots.
I told him we did not have the setup for stripers, we had only brought my boat so we could pan fish for the other 2 days we were going to be there. At that time he dropped it (about the boat) so I was thinking it was no big deal, we fished for 6 hrs ($200.00 + tip) it had been cold and raining for week and I was not sure that we would do very good.
He took us ½ mile up the lake nosed the boat to the bank put out 3 poles with large shad on them
(at this point I was thinking looks like catfishing to me ) and 3/4 oz slip sinkers then he told us that only one of us could fish at a time, and the other one would have to sit in the front of the boat, AND if we got a bite we were not to touch anything he would do everything and if he hooked one then he would hand us the pole and we could reel it in. (Ya also no pics) (the locals call him “grumpy old F#%^&”)
By this time I am starting to think this A%$# is mad about my boat and he is just taking us on a boat ride after moving 3 times (yes we did get catfish) he took us back to the dock and told us it was to cold for the stripers to bit and he would give us a good price if we wanted to come back when it got warmer.
The next day we went out of my boat and got a lot of pan fish we came back in around noon and two charters came in when we were loading the boat I started talking to them, they had 3 stripers
1-25 lbs 1-15 and 1-12 they had 7 other ones on, but were not able to land them.
I told them we had been out with Stan and he had us bottom fishing the whole time, they laugh and said ya we heard he was MAD you had your own boat so he was just going to take you on a boat ride
