Well, yesterday is a day I will remember for a Very Long Time.
I didn't go out to the Ct River until 5pm.
I hit the Launch in Windsor behind the resturant up to the brook that comes in.
Tossing the Hollow belly paddle tail 5" on a 3/8 oz gotcha jig, a smaller version and I put on a big spook with a black head and
Chart body, didn't throw that till dark.
I kept going back and forth to each lure, Picked up one dink
and a smallie.
So I packed up and moved up the road to a point I could see
from the launch towards the 91 bridge, Nada.
Moved up a little further at 8:43pm set up and there was a fellow
Who's dad belongs to the site there. He hadn't even had a bite.
Threw out the spook a few times, and was walking the dog, Nada.
Sooooooooooooo I grabed my Hollow Belly by Berkely and went to work
The fellow (I can't remember his name??) moved up the shore towards the Bridge, I start casting out to the end of the trees, swiming
it back at a slow steady retrieve and BAMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!
Down goes my rod tip and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Goes the Drag, OH MY GOD, is what I yelled, OH MY GOD Its a Keeper
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Its striping drag like crazy, the fellow starts coming back
to give me a hand, The Fish Rises, rolls and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Then he tells me, He Hates Me
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I gain a little, then ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Battle her back again but 20feet from shore was all she was giving me ....for now ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I have her on my med, fiberglass Papa George Rod, 14# Fireline Crystal
with a 17# floro Vanish Leader.
She is head shaking like a wild women, she Jumps and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Again, I don't want to tighten my drag in fear of breaking off,
I'm gaining on her one more time, Now We See her OH MY GOD!!!!
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I gain back the ground again he reached down to get my grips on her for me and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
One more time, I was able to turn her now, get her closer to him,
He gets the gripper on, AND SHE'S MINE!!!!!
It took everything I had to lift this fish for a picture.
34" 16.2lbs My Personal Best Striper.
I tried to revive her, but its was not ment to be.
So Looks like we'll be eating some wonderful striper very soon.
