Keefe: we fish for them here on Lake Murray in Columbia SC alot . I normally fish the deepest part of the lake @ 180' and drop one line about 50' and another about 35' to see where they are . I use live herring because they are a native fish to the lake . This time of year it's best to go a few hours before sun up or between 10pm-2am . I use a medium heavy ugly stick and a berkley med heavy big game pole lined with 50# spiderwire braid . I know you asked for help in NC but I hope this helped you a little . Good luck ! I am going this weekend and will post anything good !
