We really believe more and more a new world record striper was caught and released without weighing it on Lake Ouachita, my home lake near Hot Springs, AR. Standing over the intake structure at the dam many of us COE folks watched huge schools of whopper stripers at the end of their spawn run, trying to get down river each year. They linger a few weeks then spread out over the lake. State and federal biologists have watched them too, some estimating weights near 80-100 pounds, at least hundreds of them over 50 pounds. Sure would've been nice if he brought it in to be weighed.

I've read that there was a 99 lb one caught in a net in Atlantic City, NJ at one point. So they get that big at least.

There's a report of the CA DFG people netting, weighing and releasing a 102# striper in a local reservoir. I'm after that biggie!
