Life member of the club but this is my first posting.
I fished ice out this year on Mooseluk Lake near Rangeley Maine the second week of May. There was still a lot of ice but we managed a few landlocks and brookies in 3 days mostly on lead core with streamers. I noticed a lot of dead alewives stuck in the ice that was left and on shore that were all 5"-6" long and had obviously been dead since the lake iced over. I spoke with a warden from Fish & Wildlife and he said they had never seen a kill off like this before. Anyone have any good explanations?
