Well, I've got a tackle box full of all three brands and I like them all, but if I had to pick my favorite it would be the Rooster Tail, more specifically the Vibric Rooster Tail. The only problem I have with them is that they are hard to find. I either have to buy them when I'm out of town or online. I like them all though and each brand seems to have a few places that they work better than the rest. I guess it all depends on the mood of the fish.

Another brand I forgot to include was blue fox. It seems as if they have something going for them. Would probably pick the rooster tails myself.

I like river fishing for trout, my favorite spinner is the Rooster Tail, next would be Panther Martin. I really haven't had much success using Mepps.

I have had a few Blue Fox spinners and have never liked them. The blades don't seem to spin well at a slow speed like the others do. In fact I have never caught any fish with a Blue Fox spinner. I've caught loads of them with all three varieties of Rooster Tails, Panther Martins and Aglia and Black Fury Mepps, Shyster spinners and even generic(non brand name) spinners of various types, but not one fish on a Blue Fox. The only reason I can come up with is the fact that I am forced to go with a faster retrieve speed because of the blade spin problem. The success of fishing with spinners seems to be as slow a retrieve as possible while still maintaining blade spin and I think that the retrieve speed required with the Blue Fox is too fast for the type of water I fish(?).

Makes sense. I've been trying to get a few different styles, brands, and colors of spinners for fishing the trout parks here in missouri. Thus far, I have several rooster tails and 1 panther martin. One of the trout parks here has something called a "Montauk Special" spinner- has a brownish red fly attached to it. It seems to do well on the rainbow trout.

Prior to this year, I've always used bait (powerbait, marshmallows) to fish. Starting to get the hang of artificial bait. We'll see how it goes as trout season opens Sunday.

If I had to choose one I would probobly choose Panther Martin, however, I have caught trout on Roosters, Mepps, Abu Garcia and others I can not remember the name of.  One of my favorites for some years was a spinner I resqued (sp) from a bush at Ramer Lake (Brawley CA) and lost eventually in Reservation Lake in AZ.  I think that this lure was one of those that was in the "Lure Deals" that sometimes popped up in OLM, SA and F&S.  I regretted losing that one.

first i want to say im new here in my experience of trout fishing that i have caught numerous trout-  heres my pick on them-

1- panther martins- i like the gold one one sunny days

2- i would have to go with rooster tails

but dont forgot under muddy conditions- make a brighter selection- and for less stained water less bright lures   under any condtions however- there was this one rooster tail whether it was a bright day or cloudy  stained water or not- that it produced my limit of 5 trout in 8 minutes- that you can find it here :

http://www.yakimabait.com/online-catalog  go to original rooster tails and its under luminous red- thats the color that kills trout well at least at the lake i fish

I like the Blue Fox Super Vibrex in gold and silver # 3 blades so much that, that is all I throw now in a in-line spinner. The second best lure I've found is the 1/8 phobe in gold, copper or silver. A far third is a 1/8 or 1/16 nitty in gold or silver. Those are the only three lures I use now for trout. After that I go with live bait or turbo power bait.

I have aquired a small collection of Rooster Tails over the years. Although mostly 1/16th oz, I do have a few 1/8th and 1/4 oz as well.

I've also picked up a couple 1/16 oz Panther Martins lately. I like them as well. Like some others here, I haven't had much luck with Mepps.

I couldn't tell you for trout, but for smaller bass and panfish I like Panther Martin. I have a bunch of Rooster Tails, but they dont always spin like they should. PM seems to do it's job everytime out.

My first post, thought I'd give it a try.  My preference is Panther Martin and then Rooster Tails.  Panther Martin seems to spin so much easier than Mepps, at least from I've found.  It doesn't take much to spin a Panther Martin therefore you don't have to retrieve that fast.

I went trout fishing yesterday in a creek here in PA.  I caught my limit and they were all on a Panter Martin Rainbow Trout spinner size 1/16.  The biggest was an 18" brook trout that's going to be on my wall soon.  A really thick fish, don't know what the weight is but easily over three pounds.

I tried a gold Panther Martin and couple of different rooster tails first, but no luck.  Switched to the Rainbow Trout spinner and immediately they started nailing it.  It was overcast so I guess you can say the silver blade worked because if anything that's what the Rainbow trout spinner is, the gold blade did not.

i prefer mepps and panther martins over roster tails, just for the fact that i always have trouble with the blades on the roster tails not wanting to spin if i dont jerk the rod.

I have always liked the Blue Fox, They have been really good to me,

I've also used alot of Mepps, one thing about spinners that I do is I run

a bearing swivel with about a 3ft leader, really saves on the line twist.

I prefer panter martin, I like the short teardrop body. Blue fox with the fish head body works pretty good. Mepps has been non-productive for me. This is all colorado fishing in small lakes and streams. I would swear by the yellow-red spot panther martin over silver and gold.

I almost only fish trout with flies but when I use spinners I prefer

1 Joes Flies (a fly with a trailing treble and clip on inline spinner)

    2 Rooster Tails

Fishing and baseball are alot alike. Everybody has their good days and everybody has their bad days. Only the best learn from both.
