I am extremely fortunate to say that I received a package in the mail from turnip that contained 8 very vibrant trout lures to test. I say trout, but as you can see below they can and will be used for salmon and northern trout also. We will be testing them for ice-out lake trout in early May and I will provide a complete report on the performance of each. Thanks turnip (a.k.a. Pete)

I see Turnip is holding his standards high as usual. The trolling spoons look like winners for salmon and steelies. Don't fish much with casting spoons except for a few Daredevles that I keep just because no tackle box is complete without a few, and the fact that they do catch fish. Looking forward to a field test, I'll be posting one on tied jigs as soon as I can get one under the surface without drilling. Tom

Wayne: I spent 6 years as a truck mechanic for the local Hwy Dept. and was out in the cold and snow way too much. Since my sanity has returned, I avoid voluntary exposure to temperatures that will freeze my coffee. Tom

Wayne I tested that one on the top left and added a red ladder back to it year before last. It was on fire lake trout , landlocks , and big pike. I had two one got bit off the other one was beat up. Then with a slow start and a weak mind last I forgot about till late season. Have fun with them  Oh and the yellow with green scalope tape was good deep for lakers this past season.

I called Pete today told him about this spoon being ON FIRE on Seneca for me. He asked me to put a post up on the NAFC BB but I figured I'd stop here first.
I've been having boat motor issues that I've finnaly have fixed (knot on wood errr my head) and been fishing close to the launch area till the past three days. I did 4 small lakers , then yesterday I put 7 hours or so on the water with the 1st 5 hours fishless. Then I popped a nice rainbow ( these rainbow are the same a steelhead) with the spoon above. I had been only using this spoon deep for lakers till then. As I got it to the boat slipped net under it and hook came out but fish was in net!!!! !!!!!! Shocked ...... I was fishing where the laker should not be but did pick one up on my deep rig......and a nice brown on that rig..............I next hooked up with the other brown for the day got it to the boat when to scoop it up with the net and missed .........the hooks didn't so there I am put the pole in the conner , slipped and flipped the net getting the brown on top of it and eased him in the boat !!!!!!! Confused ..........I went on to pick up one more rainbow with a lampry stuck on him both 18.5" long...............so Pete's spoon wacked two rainbows and a brown..........not bad...............back out today same area boated a small laker decided to ease in 10' closer to the shore line ..................saw the spoon rod throbbing ( you got Pete's spoon was on the end) popped it free reel like heck getting slack line in nothing for a second then FISH on he was running to the boat. I had him on for a while almost close enough to see and lost him..... Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad .............worked the area for a while them moved back out 10' and hooked into a PIG bown what a fight 6#'s boat two more lakers off deep rig and called it..............Pete Thanks for that spoon buddy I have to start using it more at ALL depths !!!!!!!!!

Here is the total catch from yesterday:

You can see the lampry in this one to right....

    then this guy today................

CONGRATULATIONS!  Those are some great looking fish and spoons--I was wondering since Turnip sent you the spoons to try and test if you filled out the proper test form and sent it back in.  I think I am going to start petitioning Turnip for test products and test forms, don't seem to have any luck with NAFC hierarchy.  Don't want to hear any more complaining about the weather--while you are busting the fish I am sitting hoping the AC doesn't go out.  Uncle Tom  Keep the photos coming I really get a boost looking at them.  My grand daughter thought they were grant and wanted to start making spoons.
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

From the looks of it you should have no problem landing a few trout with those lures Wayne. Good Luck!

prismatic tape is fun to play with Pete. Looking good you can also use it to dress up old swim baits spray a base color on the lure then add prismatic tape to the sides .
Take a kid fishing , If the fish aint biting entertain them. Photobucket
