I fish for walleyes on a medium sized river using hip waders, a spinning rod and reel, and usually a jig with a minnow attached. I sometimes also use rapalas. No matter where I fish in the river I can never seem to get the walleyes to bite my minnow. Almost always the walleyes don't bite during the day but they always seem to bite after dark, but their biting so light you can't really feel it. Also there is a major carp problem in the river and when you think you have a walleye biting and you go to set the hook it turns out to be a carp that you snagged. I was just wondering what I can do to get the walleyes to bite my minnow during the day, feel the bites lighter, and not be able to snag the carp so oftern.
