When things start cooling down later this year, I'd kinda like to try for some sauger. We don't have very strong walleye populations here in middle TN, but we do supposedly have quite a few sauger. I've never fished for them. Any tips? My first major fear is that I don't have a boat. Is it even feasible that I'll be able to get to these fish casting from the bank? Do they generally run up into tributaries to spawn? If so, I might have a chance.

Also, the other big fear I have concerns landing them. What is the best way to land these fish without losing a finger in the process?
