just started fishing for saugeye in the last couple of years in eastern ohio and do good all year except in the early spring. the lake we fish in the piedmont and just don't seem to be able to find them in the spring like we do other times of the year. are their pattern's like those of a walleye.

helo ,i fish indian lake for saugeyes and do really well in the spring. the saugeye will move realy shallow as soon as the ice is off. i do best with a light jig with a minnow in early spring and the i use a jig and pice of crawler or a leach . look for areas on your lake that creates a neck down in the lake like a bridge or somthig . thats a good starting point . also current plays a big part in sagueye fishing .
