Angler Bob Hart of Missoula , Montana , recently caught his first-ever walleye, a 14-incher. The very next day, he caught his second-ever walleye, which just happens to have broken the Montana state walleye record.

According to the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Department, Hart, 46, caught the 17 3/4-pound walleye early in the morning on the north shore of Tiber Reservoir , southeast of Shelby . The fish measured 35 inches long with a 22-inch girth and has been weighed on an official scale and measured but not yet seen by a state Fish, Wildlife and Parks fish biologist. Montana's previous state record walleye weighed 16.63 pounds, measured 31 1/2 inches long and was caught in January 2000 in Fort Peck Reservoir.
