the small private lake (or big pond) that i fish in is over ran by what other members are calling grass carp !!
having carp fished at times using bread ball and worms, these "guys" will not look at them ..  boats are not allowed and the carp do seem to swim in the middle and high in the water. soooo what can i use from shore to catch thes guys that have ruined  most  if not all the vegetation !?!?!?!?!?
    thank you
    and
    god bless

Grass carp are called that because that's what they eat. Maybe someone thought there was to much vegetation in the water. You usaully can't catch them for that reason also. The most logical way is to net and remove them, being careful to sort out the desireable fish. The things breed like rabbits and I guess nothing eats them.

i checked with some of the "older" members and you hit the nail on the head when you said about the vegetation and yes that was the reason a "few" were put in.  now they want them out !!!!! because of the bank structure launching a boat is almost impossible and since they are in the middle a net will not work.
    any more ideas !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cherry tomato or grape tomato. we used to catch 'em all day long using these.as far as getting the bait to them use a sling shot or wrist rocket. if the pond owner and dnr say o.k. try bow fishing for them. WARNING you need to have some skill with a bow to do this. i do not have this skill and it cost me $80.00 (lost arrows-not mine) to discover i don't have this skill. good luck

I catch them on corn mainly. Also, take floating or sinking fish food, put it in a blender, make a dough bait out of it. I often use strawberry pop when making the dough. Add flour, ect. to get the right consistency.
