I would rate them at about an eight. They do not ussually jump but they run and sulk with power.

They generally fight very well. When I fish for smallies with M/L or L rod/reel... they feel like a whale. Especially if you foul hook them.

Carp put up a good fight they will make long runs and head for the bottom. I finall caught one with a fly rod and it took me twenty minutes to bring it in  it was a 29 inch fish it was a lot of fun

I would give carp a nine. They fight hard even if they're relatively small (9 lbs.). A fight with a large carp (15 lbs.) is a real chalenge. They often stick to the bottom and don't give up easy. The longest I've fought a carp was almost a minute on light tackle

CARP WILL FIGHT HARDER THEN SOME CATFISH. I HAVE A BLAST WITH CARP OR CATFISH AND A GOOD BLUEGILL IS A STRONG FIGHTER ALSO.

I have always been a flathead man, but one night, Fishing with a nightcrawler, I hooked into my first common, and now I'm the one who's hooked, "on carp." They're very strong fish.

Nice reference Eric!! Yup, feels about just like that. They run hard and dive hard. They are a blast. I usually don't fish for them but when nothing else is biting I sure will hook into one just for the fight.

I tell ya , I started out as a trout/bass guy , got into catfishin' then stumbled into carpin' while I was fishin' for bait and man its a blast! last year was the second year I actually got into lite line/rig carpin' and since I got more into pan fishin' last year it was easy just to stay with my lite gear and your right bro , when nothin' else is biting you can always count on catchin' a carp.

A few years back the dam on Upchurchs Pond (Fayetteville,NC) broke and emptied the lake. By the time they rebuilt the dam and refilled the lake it was extremely overgrown. After the refill, they stoocked the lake with 14,000 lbs of fish. Alot of them were carp. Then they came back and put in another 12,000 lbs. of fish. Not as many carp that time.

I have caught, probably, close to 200 carp since they refilled the lake in the spring of 2008. Even the babies (<5lbs.) put up a good fight, for their size. 10 pounders are fun too. However, My biggest carp tipped a 25lb. scale. I was 15 years old, fishing for cats from the banks of the Cape Fear River, near Wade, NC, when I hooked into the biggest fish of my life! It was an awesome fight! That was 22 years ago, and I'll always remember it as if it was yesterday.

any fishing is fun for me but about a year ago fishing the tippecanoe river of lake scafer in.. had some bass strikes early and some cats then it all stopped.so my uncle and i decided lets chum with some corn throw a few on the hook and see what happens..and ive never tried to carp fish..almost thought i was to good for that.but it was the best time i had!i do king and steelhead fishing in michigan and creeks and i broke more line, lost more fish and got spooled over and over fighting for these carpand ..yes i brought some in...so if you never did it make a day of it.all you need is a can of corn and a 6 or 12 pack of beer...have fun
