you are insaine (in a good way) fishing red fish with a kayak. I have seen red fish pull teenagers out of a 16 ft. deep hull. A 10lb. would turn your xxxx over if you aren't ready. you should have wave armor on that thing to give you a little better stance in the water. here's a pic of the ones that cabella's has.

not really , fishing reds from a kayak is not bad at all . you get to use lighter tackle because the yak acts as your drag . no matter which side you hook up on , you work your tip to the front , that turns the yak in the direction of the fish . after a short pull around , they play out enough to land them . reds , trout , and flounder , are all fun in a kayak . best part , you don't need a boat ramp , and you can go back in the skinny water where the power boats can't get . it's a total rush to paddle through some reeds into a open flat , and see twenty tails with spots chasing small crabs and fingerling mullet .
BigD.DaddyDave , if your ever heading down this way , give me a shout . if i can take off in time  , i would be glad to take you out there . i will try to find some pics from last oct run .

I fish huge cats out of my canoe, and bait cast for huge bass at amon carter lake hear in Bowie,Tx. I have caught an 85 pounder (Flat Head) in cleburn lake. I will never go back to red river alone in the canoe. I have wave armour on the canoe and a 95 pounder almost turned me over. I know what your talking about with the rush. I love to paddle a turn in the lake and see a large group of big large mouths jumping. I love to catch jumpers. I fifteen pound large mouth jumper. I almost had a heart attack for the rush. I caught a 6 foot nurse in the delta of louisianna from a canoe. thank god the water was only four feet deep where we had our two hour war. I caught her with a red rig. I was useing an artificial shrimp I dipped in chicken blood to hook the shark. I was using a steel leader to sink the shrimp. I go down there every now and then to see my cousin. I had to release the shark cause they are protected in louisianna, or so my cousin says. You want to try something fun. Try reel fishing for alligators. The lizard, not the gar. I caught a seven footer once fishing for cats. They fight harder than a hopped up junky snagged by a dog. You have to have a stamp in Texas with a hunting license.

Man you go along way to go fishing. If you like bass, Bowie is alot closer to you than Rockport. Bowie is 190.77 miles from Tyler. I won't get to come to that area for a while because I am tring to get a house put on to my 69 acres in grossbeck. We have a lot of great places for small crafts like canoes and kyaks here on amon carter. If you can get out this way with a few days to spend I have several places you would enjoy that I can guilde you to for huge bass, crappie, and monster cats. I get alot of bass this time of year out there. The crappie and cats are a little harder, but can be done from a small hand powered craft. Use a motor this time of year and it is over out here. The big ones are in close to the banks because that is where the big drop off is. I have dead sticked from the bank and caught a few, cause I did not want to pick up the canoe and load it yet cause my arms were tired. I know a good willow hole here that would be perfect for you on the new side. I have caught a few 10 to 15 pounders out of that hole recently. I have another hole I would love to put out a trot line for flat heads. There are several over 40 pounders that stay close enough to this hole to make it well worth the time to set the trot line. I can't get anyone to help me, and I can't fight the drift and tie the trot line at the same time. The hole is next to an old sunkin road between two old sunkin telephone poles. Email me at BigD.DaddyDave@gmail.com if your interested in goin fishin' at Amon Carter lake in Bowie Texas. This invitation is open to anyone who is honest and interested.
