Maybe it's me, but I don't understand 10# line for crappie that might weigh 3# if you are blessed. If I can pull a 30" tiger muskie out of timber on 5# braid, a crappie shouldn't be a problem. Tom

It would be a better decision to use 6 lb test.

I have an abu 6600bcx on an abu colonial med heavy 6'6" rod with 30lb spider wire, and a bass pro gold series that is the same equipment just with a different name on it. I use these two for every thing. I have about 200 rods with reels. most are bail reels. The only two guarenteed to go when I do are the abu and bass pro. My only complaint is that the rods are one piece. It is kind of hard to load in the car. I have a very fast pontiac sun fire. I can even pull my 1972 glasstron v165 I fish from. It won't go every where, so I have a 14ft canoe also. we call my car the truck. when I buy again I will buy more of this bass pro I have. I love this reel and rod. They are accually stronger than the abu. I paid $250 for the abu, and $50 for the bass pro. That is the bass pro's regular price. I also have a collection of old abus made from 66 to now. I would also put my 1978 zebco 171 up against the most expensive cat fish rig any day. That little crappie rig has caught to many 30+ pound cats to count. it just don't cast very far, it only holds fifty yards of 4lb diameter braid. It has machined stainless steel gears. here are some pics.

My favorite catfish rig is a 7' Rhino medium-heavy baitcast rod with a kevlar tip, and a Penn 209 level wind reel with 250 yards of Trilene XT in 40 pound test.
