That ugly stick is very durable. my friend foul hooked a 15 pound carp on it and it handled fine. only problem is you really got to set the hook hard since the rods so short.

I took it out today with no luck. I had a largemouth on for about 30 seconds. He got about 10 feet off the bank and threw me. I think it may have had something to do with the way I hooked my bait. I also tried the gulp alive 4" minnows for the first time.

Fred: I was at my buddy's tackle shop today and saw the rod you bought. Nice, but a bit short for me. Hey, if we all liked the same thing we would all be married to the same woman. His price for the rod only is $32.99, so you did OK. While I was there I figured I might as well get some minnows. Asked for 2 doz, probably left with closer to 4 doz and nearly ran out! The fish were mostly small(6-8") but there were a few 2# fish in the mix. Not bad for a local pond that is a 5 min walk from my door! Tom

You have to love the local fishing holes. Sometimes they produce the best fish. Good thing your buddy threw in a couple extra dozen, you might have had to make a second trip.

Fred: Because of vision problems, I don't drive. Running out of bait is a BAD thing! Yesterday I was able to help a number of young anglers put fish on their line, and I think that had I run out of bait, some adult would have made the trip! As it was I had a hard time paying for the lunch I ordered when someone made a McDonald's run. I would have prefered Wendy's, but you take what you get, it beats being hungry. Let me know how that Ugli combo works for you. I have a Dick's not to far from me and may check out the combos. My oldest boy wants an ultralight, and if I can find a combo that works, Ill buy it and swap the Ugli for one of my UL rods because I've always wanted an Ugli. Drop me a PM or email with a report if you would be so kind! Tom
