Are those of you using Spider Wire using the Stealth or the regular braid? I tried the stealth and it was a disaster, I stripped it off after one morning on the water! The stuff was fraying so badly that I had no confidence in it. Was lucky to find some Power Pro at the resort we were staying at and saved the trip. Tom Fishin' fool in NE Illinois |

I've used the regular spiderwire braid. I picked it and some of Stren's braid in the bargain bin at Gander Mt. Both performed very well. |

Must have been the Stealth, I have had negative feedback on this stuff from many anglers, but never a bad comment on the regular braid. I got hooked on Stren Microfuse a few months ago, and after it went on sale at Cabela's, I'll be using it for a while. The price was right($6.77 for 300yds after rebate) and I stocked up. It fishes well and is quite visible on top of the water, but is supposed to be hard to see underwater. I can't complain, as I have caught quite a few fish on it. Tom Fishin' fool in NE Illinois |

I had problems with the Spiderwire after a while and switched to Stren Braid, which worked pretty well although there are quite a few other really good brands. You should check out the comparisons done on all different types of lines here when you get a chance. LINE COMPARISONS World Record Bass and Trophy Bass

I'm using the stealth on 5 big cat rods right now with no problems so far. Two rods have had it on for most of last summer and all this year. I know I got 7 years out of some of the original braid and will keep everyone posted if I find the stealth isn't holding up like I think it should. |

The problem with the Spiderwire Stealth must be fixed, as everyone I know that had a problem, myself included, had the problem right away. Tom |

Good luck to anybody who wants Stren's Super Braid. Stren has stopped making it and its getting harder to find. I bought 3 boxes of it at Gander Mt. for $5 a box and now they don't have any left. Neither does Academy. |

What is with all the discontinued line all of a sudden? Seems to be that Pure Fishing is narrowing their product line- first Trilene Maxx, now the Stren Super Braid. Yanosick, was it you that is a big fan of the Maxx? I bought 2 spools today on closeout at Wal-Mart and spooled a reel that was in dire need. I have not fished it yet, but it sure seems stiff, even compared to fluoro. I thought Maxx was supposed to have the castability of XL and the abrasion resistance of XT. I'll have to fish it to decide. Worst case it should make good leader material and it was CHEAP! Tom |

instead of getting rid of all the good line. why don't these companies get rid of that HORRIBLE FLOUROCARBON. THAT STUFF IS THE STIFFEST, WEAKEST LINE EVER CREATED. NOW ABOUT BERKLEY well I usually don't buy line from Walmart, as I believe there line stays on the shelf for a long period of time. The line is supposed to be nice and smooth. Limp not stiff. Hopefully your spool is fine. That line is just the best. It cast a long long way and is very strong. I don't have any more spools left of it. I just have some of the line on one of my spinning outfits. |

My local Wal-Mart closes out their entire fishing dpt. every year. I can't believe that what I am buying is that old. I fished the 6# Maxx I bought today, and it was better after a few casts, but still stiffer than Vanish fluoro. I'll give it a bit more time to break in and then make up my mind. I personally prefer a fused braid like Power Pro, Fireline or Microfuse under most conditions. To each his own. Tom |

Hey Tom, just give it some time I guess( I would never reccomend something I don't believe in). All I can say is its my favorite line. Your Walmart is obviously different then mine, but mine rarely ever sells there line. Maybe yours does. Oh, and by the way, I've already got to many packages of line. So thanks , but I don't need that line. It would end up collecting dust. |

I have spider wire stealth on four diffrent setups: 2-10 on ultralight for throwing single 1/8 oz. jigs and lighter, works perfect, 8-20 on spinning rig for bobber fishing for crappie, and one for spinnerbaits and crankbaits, on a baitcaster, and one with 17-65 on another baitcaster for jigging heavy brush, all rods are 7' and reels are all top quility shimano reels and have never had a problem for the last 8-10 years. I recomend it. |
