I was looking at these Eagle Claw Rods and was wandering if anyone uses them and if there any good?

My dad has an old one he got back in the late 60's.It seems to be a pretty good rod.

I want to know if the new ones are as good as the old ones?

I was looking at the medium heavy 9'.

Most things made today (85% of things) are not what they used to be. You can tell a difference from stuff you bought 5 years ago too todays.

The one your dad had is probably better then todays.

Now heres what I think you should do.

They look okay. I've never used one, but why don't you just get an Ugly Stick(or an Ugly Stick Lite). They might cost a little more, but everyone knows an Ugly Stick is impossible to break. You can whack these rods on the ground and they don't break. They get the job done without emptying your wallet!

To the best of my knowledge, all of the Eagle Claw rods are of PGlass construction, and tend to be a bit slow or soft for my taste. I do have 2 BPS Microlite Glass ultralights that I believe are made by Eagle Claw. I love these rods, but they are restricted to panfish casting duty as one is a 6.5' and the other is 7.5'. They cast a country mile, but larger fish(over 3#) are a real challenge. Tom

Backackwards, I totally agree with Yano, get a ugly stik.Just bought a 7`M Ugly and love it.
My first real pole was a Eagle Claw  that was givin to me about 1974.Of corse I loved it.When it broke in 80 it was replaced with a Ugly.A big mud cat snapped it at the base. Now it rests in the Potomac.
