    Hi Everyone:

We received a request to start a thread where Club members can showcase and discuss the exotic and unusual species they’ve caught. Well, here it is. I’m sure we’ll get some interesting stories and photos. Can’t wait to see them.

It may not be exotic, but the most unusual species I've ever caught was a seagull, caught in mid cast about 20' above the water casting a Mirro Lure from the Deerfield Beach fishing pier in Deerfield Beach Florida. I fought it down from the sky. That was one nasty po'd snapping bird.     Happy fishing.

I don't have any pics but I once caught a clam on a 2" grub I was dragging along bottom. I realed in and the grub was completely inside the clam. I guess thats pretty unusual.

Cool. I was watching a show a few weeks back. What I saw was a man catching a species of Snakehead in Florida. So the question is.. What kind is it in Fla. and is it a good idea to let them go? They seemed to give a good fight.

I went out to some back waters off a canal and hooked into what I thought at first was a cat. To my surprise it was something that I had only heard of but never before seen. It was a Bowfin/Dogfish/Mudfish. It fought like a smallie and was as mean as a walleye. If any one can tell me if they taste any good and how to prepare them best I would be really appreciative. I can't wait to get back out there and catch more of them. I saw one come up for air like a whale that had to be over 12lbs. Thanks!

When I was a kid we use to go to this small pond in Fairfax Va. and catch snakes with a fly pole ,using a popper while bass fishing.
Now the pond is a highrise.

Only  caught one goby this year in the sst. Lawrence. Thats a good sign. Now there is one less goby. Last year we caught dozens of them.

They put up an excellent fight, but are worthless as food. Just have fun catching them. I used to catch lots of them when I was a teenager in Florida.     Happy fishing.

Has anyone else caught Alligators with a rod and reel. I used to do it all the time in Louissianna. Try it from a 16' or bigger boat though. They will pull you in and eat you.
