I was fisning off Shackleford Banks NC a few weeks ago and caught a fish i have never seen. I have looked for it online but have been unsuccessfull. It was approx 8-10 in long and weighed 5lbs, it had large side fins that looked like wings, on the front underside just under the mouth it had 2 arm like appendages. I thought it was a lionfish but it dose not look like any of the pics that i found. I would really like to know what species it is. I thank anyone that helps me find out and would really appreciate a pic if possible.

I was fishing the Mighty Mississippi in pool 11 (Wisconsin) when I cought this fish while targeting white bass. I've never seen it before and couldn't find it on the internet either. I was wondering if anyone might have an idea what it is. Oh, and it had teeth on its tongue. Thanks for any help.

That is sort of vague. I mean you could of least included a desciption of it. Were you fishing in freshwater or saltwater? What was its coloring like? How big was it? Did it have teeth?

Ive never seen a fish like that. It looks sort of like a tarpon but its eyes throw me off. Maybe its an oxeye.

Uncannyrockbass, I have found out what you have caught!!! It is called a goldeye.

    Hiodon alosoides

The goldeye is a close relative of the mooneye. Perhaps you've heard of it.
