Lipless cranks work best in cold water, especially fished near cover. Be careful, though, or you may have to say good bye to a good lure because of the weeds. Also, soft plastics work well when fished slowly because the fish are lethargic this early in the season, especially up here in Massachusetts. i'd always always ALWAYS have a YUM dinger tied on. I'd have 5 rods on the deck with: a crankbait of some sort, a YUM dinger, a black and blue jig, spinnerbait, and from spring till fall i'd have a spook on. If it ain't YUM; Its DEAD |

Ok guys I have had many big wins in my fishing days with sunfish or crawfish. anything that is live and moving is the best. The Sunfish works if you cut it in half and in half again. Remember buy the crawfish from an bait shop you can't catch it in an stream it's illegal now. I few years back when I first started fishing when I didn't need an licenses. God Bless and HAPPY FISHING!!!! GOOD LUCK IN 2010 SEASON!!!!!! Brian J Weber

The rules on catching your own bait vary from state to state, check local regulations before fishing. Even in state, some waters may have special rules. A note to you guys young enough to not need a license: the rules still apply, get caught in a violation and you can lose your tackle and be prevented from getting a license for a period of time. Not all lures will work well in all situations! I can't stress this enough. |

Like Bassfisher says Zoom. In my book they are the best plastics in the business. They make all kinds of plastics and have great color variety. Right now one of their hottest new colors is called "Watermelon Magic". Should be in most top of tackle shops and stores. You can always order it straight from Zoom. Give them a try and you'll discover why so many fish Zoom. Good luck and good fishing! Uncle Tom

| I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country. |
