As a senior it doesn't make sence to dish out $300, tho i plan to pay dues every year i'm alive; doesn't that qualify me as a life member? |

I would think dues would stop as soon as you pay in the amount of life membership. Once you hit that mark you should be considered a life member. Try talking to member services about it. Lifer since 05/08....Ky....Fred |

It is a matter of the club having your money up front. It's the same as the discount you get on a magazine subscription for taking multiple years at once. Tom Lifer in NE Illinois |

It's money. If you paid enough to be a lifer, you should be one. If you didn't pay enough, then no! Life membership costs money. If you hit that mark Sharon, talk to member services. Lifer since 05/08....Ky....Fred |

I have to disagree Fred. The reason the club offers the life membership is to be able to work with your money, kind of like a reverse mortgage of sorts. Using your logic, the State of Il owes me a lifetime fishing license and I know that aint happening! Another example would be some of the college tuition programs that allow a parent to pay a child's tuition at today's price and the child being guaranteed an education later even if prices go up. if I remember correctly, when the club offered a life membership you got credit for how much you had already paid. at least I did. I don't know if the same holds true when you have been a monthly member for that long but it would be worth a call to HQ to find out. Over the years the mag alone has more than paid for the membership fees. Brian Fishing! enough said. |

I believe you are correct, Brian. That's a really good question for someone that has been a regular for so long...I would want to know and Member Services should be able to give an answer. LM since 2005 Bushwacker Deputy Sherif

I was about 6 months into a 3 year membership when I went Life. I got credit for the 3 years dues I had paid but not anything prior. Can't hurt to try. Tom Lifer in NE Illinois |

I have to agree with everyone, I was a regular member then I received a letter to become a Lifer. I didn't hesitate to join, called Customer Service and I was credit from the time I joined and then had to pay a monthly fee for about half a year! Also check in your state, you may qualify for life time fishing license! Just call the NAFC at talk to them, they will work with you! Good Luck Dennis Practice Everyday,

I think it is worth it, even if you don't live too many years. You're getting all the perks of the lifetime membership, the fishing rod/reel combo, as well as getting the mag free til you pass. As much as you may not see that as a benefit, you get a few more things, that you wouldn't get without becoming lifetime. Scott Miller

When all else fails, at least you can still bait the line and go fishing.

It would have been less money for me to pay annual dues, but I figured that if I took the Life membership I wouldn't have to remember to renew every couple of years, I did get a few premiums and I know my magazine will be in the mailbox 7 times a year. Tom Lifer in NE Illinois |

One great perc I think people forget or at least you don't hear anyone talk about is that as a life member, the club will re-imburse you every year for up to $25 dollars of the fee you pay for your yearly fishing license. I think I have been a lifer for about 4 years. There is 100 beans right there. Ching Ching ! |

Thank you Stealthfisher, I had no idea about that. How does one go about getting that credit? Does is apply to trout salmon stamps too or just annual fishing license? |

I became a life member about 3 years ago. In that time I have recieved benefits and merchandise well beyond the origanal cost of being a lifer. Also since that time have become a trophy lifer. By my estimate I am still coming out way ahead. |
