Turns out I used some cheap glue. First time in the water the blade assembly came off. I haven't messed with it since, but will sometime later this year.

Have you tried using Gorilla Glue ? I've used it on several things that are constantly in water, still holding after a couple of years.

Added your picture, what part didn't hold ?

I will try it Dave. Thanks. The whole wire assembly came off. Everything but the crank itself. Lol.

Forgot to mention that Gorilla Glue expands when it dries. Test it on something similar to your crankbait first, that way you don't ruin one with a glob of glue.

One of the things I've fixed with it is the mounting bracket for my transducer. Still holding.

    BassBum,

Try to find a rethreading kit and thread the end of the wire on the spinner, that way you can screw it into the bait. Glue will only work for so long. You could even drill a hole through the bait and put the wire all the way through and then find either beads or another way to get the wire to not slip up and down the bait. I am a mechanic and rethreading kits come in handy, you can rethread a bolt or put threads on a smooth pin to make a bolt if you need it, the only problem will be finding a kit with one small enough to thread the wire.

I'm going to keep the original split ring on and tie off there. Depending on how the baits looks, I might try something different. Maybe adding  something mid way between the lip and the spinner wire would keep the at a steeper incline. Not really sure. Trial and error, or maybe nothing will work and it goes to the garbage.

there is a much simpler way

why don't you just use a spinner arm .  you can have the blade  spin above or bellow the bait  depending one how you attach it to the eye of the lure .

Good idea! I have a tray full of Beetle Spins and I'm going to play with that once the rain stops. Put my gear together last night, got up this morning still half asleep, got dressed for fishing and didn't realize that it was raining until I walked out to get the paper. Needless to say, I am awake now. Tom

Fred.. My son is always coming up with ideas like that as well. He was telling me something similar a while back but don't know if he actually made it as you did. I can almost smell the smoke from coming from your head. ROTFL Keep thinking up those ideas, who knows huh??

Steve, ask your son if he has made this, or a similar bait. I still haven't gotten back to messing with mine. I would like to know if I'm wasting my time or not. Thanks.

A "right size" drill bit would allow you to run the wire all the way through to the eyelet for the belly hook.
