    i have built 8 rods and have got fish with them it feel good to get fish on rod you built all by yourself i built sprinng rods and tie some flys . george aka

    Hey George, that is impressive...sounds like a fun project, maybe you can share some Pics of the rods and some tips on the materials and methods you used to build them...and where to get the materials...

    I'd  like to try it myself over the winter.

    hay dan i will try to put pic. on. go to mud hole tackle .com .i pay a round $50.00 for rod ,guides ,reel seat, handle all good part like fuji guides,reel seat ,rod are #6Im graphite in light to medium .it is fun it take about two days to build a nice sprinng rod call mud hole tackle at 1 866 790 rods and order a catalog .they have rod blank from seeker,st.croix,american ,g-loomis ,gatti,sage , lamiglas you can build .you can build a fly ,sprinng or casting or offshore rods i like to do it ,but your wife will tell you have to many rods now no more but tell her you builting them for grandkids this help but if you only have 4 grandkids it get hard to do so be care full . god bless george aka

    az i have two more on banch now one is a repair and one is a build . i like to go to yard sale and pick up old rods for $5.00 or $10.00 buck and put new guild on them if blank is ok repair handel i did this for the grand kids and they love the rods that i did for them . george aka

    Thats a great way to get fishing equiptment. Just go to a garage sale and refurbish the rod if necessary. I have a neighbor whos husband fishes in tournaments. Every year he gets new rods and reels. At her garage sell, she sells these rods for $5-$10. Regular price is about $50-$75. A heckuva deal.
