My fishin' bud John M. and I headed down to Lake Sara in Effingham Illinoiz for the second time this month.
We got out on the water about 10:00 and wasted about 30 minutes at one spot that usually produces a couple of nice Crappie.
Spot #2 started giving up Crappies and a couple of Gills. we were in such a hurry to get out that I left the camera at the cabin.

It started to drizzle but we stayed with it. John picked up a nice Kitty cat and I got a 16" LMB before the rain drove us in. It rained hard almost all night.
Never fear though, here's a pic of the 1st day's catch,in the cleaning house.

Day two dawned a little brighter with mixed sun and clouds but stiffer winds.
We didn't waste any time getting back to our Crappie spot. After picking off a few, John tied into a nice Kitty. It took about 10 min. to land on the ultra lite.

He dropped his bait right back in ther and tied into another one. This one was bigger and stronger. He finally found the anchor line and broke off to fight another day.
Here's me new self designed Boyz wear Jacket.

We managed to pick up a few more Crappie, Striper and Gills from some of the other spots on the lake.

    A couple of handfuls.

total for day #2 counted 1 Kitty 17 Crappie, 5 Stripers and about 25 nice Gills.

After supper we just didn't have enough so we hit the pier 'till 11:30.
    John C&R a nice 13 " LMB.

    I wasn't so charitable.
I kept a nice 11" Black Crappie and another about 9".

Day three was fairly clear, windy and a bit chillier in the am.
We bounced the lake and picked up 6 Crappies
1 small Kitty and 61 Gills and 3 Rock Bass.
A lot of those fish came from right outside the weedline in front of the resort.

    A couple of "Chunks"

and the last day's catch at Anthony Acres resort.

Glad you had a great time John Cool<!--graemlin::cool:-->

For the REST of you out there....the outside edge of the weedline is a CONSTANT focus for several of us experienced fisher-folks. So whe you find that edge....especially in conjunction with the dropoff...that is where some of the action is Wink<!--graemlin:;)-->

    Thanks Dave.
also look for that weed line growing in front of docks that have boat lifts. It can grow there because the dock doesn't have a lot of traffic.
Fish the outside edge AND under those types of docks. The bigger 'Gills will almost always be the most agressive and the first ones caught.
