Well here are the latest pics with "DA TIE". We ended up between the 5 of us with over 100 decent gills, 6 jumbo perch and 2 3lb LMB. We probably threw back as many gills as we caught. We did it "DA OTHER WAY" and also had some deer dogs and deer snacks.

OK here goes everyone. My partner Rick and I were fishing the Tobyhanna State Park Ice Fishing Tournament on Sunday the 14th of February (yes Valentines Day). the tournament payed 1st place $300 and 2nd place $100 for total weight for Panfish, 1st place $300 and 2nd place $100 for total weight for Bass, Lunker Bass ended up paying $290 and finally Lunker Other was $100. We got there around 6:30am and sign in was at 7am. There were alot of guys, some gals and a few children that signed up. After getting checked in and getting our equipment ready for the 8am start time, we were hiped and exited. When they blew the horn we got to our spot and started drilling holes for our tip-ups and holes for jigging. Rick started putting in his 3 tip-ups while I got my poles and camera ready to do some jigging and when Rick got done with his tip-ups I went and got mine set-up. The perch started biting and we were doing good on them and then the tip-ups stared going off. Rick had 3 bites on his tip-ups and he missed one and had the other 2 break the line, so he decided to let the tip-ups go for now and concentrate on jigging while the perch were biting. The 1st tip-up of mine went off and when i set the hook I knew I had a big fish on. When I got it to the hole I saw a big LMB and when I got it out of the hole I was in awe and it was about 3lbs. Yippee I yelled. I ended up catching 2 more like that and then with the last one I caught on the tip-up it was a HAWG, but before that Rick hollered over to me to give him a hand. He hooked a biggun while jigging and he needed me to help him by getting the camera out of the hole. He fought the fish for awhile and finally got it to the hole and I helped it out of the hole and it was another large LMB about 3lbs. As you will see with the pics of all the fish we caught. When we had to go in and way in, we knew we had a chance of winning 3 categories. When we were pulling up our sleds, there were a bunch of people waiting for us and when we got to the trailer to weigh in, they saw nothing but tails hanging out of the 6 gallon pail. when we started putting the bass on the table, all we heard was holy-s!!t. We had 6 bass to weigh in, which during ice fishing season you are only aloud 3 bass and at this lake they have to be 15". The total weight for all 6 bass totaled 19.40lbs and they weighed my HAWG after the total was tallied, it weighed in at 6.12lbs. Now after the bass was done, we had our perch weighed in and again the crowd said holy-sh!!. The total weight for the perch weighed in at 12.38lbs. We were told, after I came back with my vehicle to load up the sleds before we headed to the Firehouse for the Dinner, drinks and to give out the awards, we had won about $890. You can imagine what we looked like. At the awards presentation we checked the Leader Board and yes there it was. We took 1st place Panfish, 1st place Bass and Lunker Bass. The Lunker Bass measured 23.5", the other 4 large Bass measured between 20"-21.5" and the small Bass measured 15.5". The perch you just have to see the pics, so enjoy the pics.

GADZOOKS man, you guys emptied the lake . Jumbo perch and jumbo LMB through a hole in the ice is no small feat. I can just imagine the look on the faces of the people around the weigh-in area . Congratulations to you and your partner Kinger. That's gonna be a tourney to remember for sure, eh? |

All Right! Those pics are fabulous. I got so excited I went down to the creek and walked out on the ice, promptly fell through, and was grateful it was only a couple of inches deep. Not kidding, those pics make me want to go ice fishing, or regular fishing. Terrific job Kinger! I'm looking forward to my first fish of the year even more now!
