If the scout camp cant be reserved for us; I'd like to say now that I'd like to share a cabin with any other members doing the same. The resort was real nice and would be my first choice. Have the owner's said any more about the Meet Gathering? I'll have to get more info on cost ect. as plans are firmed up. Thanks for you dedication to the cause. Looking forward to seeing you guys again too. Dennis/Papa_d <!--graemlin::cool:--> |

DATES: JUNE 9 TO JUNE 15, 2007
Mark you calendars NOW to attend our 6TH ANNUAL MEET!! BRING THE FAMILY, FRIENDS AND HAVE FUN! This meet if for all NAFC Members and their guests., not just a few!
Do not hesitate to join us because you maybe "new" to these events. This is a super chance to meet members of the club and make lifelong friendships.
There is no tournament fishing during this meet, just a bunch of freinds getting together for general fishing and a good time.
MEET INFORMATION:
ONCE AGAIN DATES: JUNE 9 TO JUNE 15, 2007.
Cost: $10.00 per person per day for meals served nightly. Those under 16 are free.
Nightly BBQ's are held starting at 6PM (Local time). Menu is being developed, but normally consists of Ribs, Chicken, Brats, Mexican Night and so on. Any member with "special dietary needs" should make us aware of same so arrangements can be made.
Location of the nightly meals is still to be determined at this time.
ACCOMADATIONS:
There are several area for personal accomadations in the area. They are:
Northern Lights Resort - 906-346-5854* TOLL FREE AT 888-246-6100
Red Fox Inn- KI Sawyer: 906-356-3355
Model Town Inn - 906-346-7901
* In past years the majority of members have stayed at this resort and have shared cabin expenses. Members who have reservations NORMALLY post same and ask if anyone would be willing to share space. If you call the Northern Lights Resorts make sure you tell them that you will be attending the Gwinn NAFC Members Meet in 2007.
We are also looking into the possibility of renting the local Girl Scout Camp, located on Mehl Lake for the week of the meet. This would provide "On-Ste Camping Areas". It will not be known if this area can be rented until later this year (November) and it also depends on the fact that the Scouts have frist choice on any/all dates.
The web site for Gwinn is: www.gwinnmi.com Click on the very first Gwinn Michigan Chamber of Commerce heading and that will take you to their "general site".
Lakes we fish:
East Bass Lake., Big Shag LAke., Johnson Lake. (Maybe Mehl and Pike Lakes). All lakes have a varity of fish, such as gills, bass, pike and maybe Musky.
Please direct comments, questions, suggestions to one of the following:
Gene Menepace., Chuck W., and DOC!
Start thinking about it., check it out and make your reservations. Up-Dates will be posted as they become available. |

I will be tenting it so some contacts for camping sites would be a blessing. Hopefully something on a lake in the area. Thanks for getting things started again. |

I don't know if I'll be there for the Friday fish fry so I could do the spaghetti dinner, if that's still on the menu. If I'm there on Friday, I'll help with the fish fry also. |

As I reflect back on how things worked out at LaCrosse, I must say that the group feeds worked out nicely...some went fishin after eating and others migrated to various camp sites for "powows" that lasted into the wee hours!

If you need electrical hook-up., the only site I am aware of is the "Tourist Park" in the center of Gwinn itself., unless the Resort has "camper slots" available by then.
Larry: The closest DNR Camp would be the one on Little Lake. |

Glad this heat is pasted now maybe I can get some work done around the property and get out and do some more fishing.
Went out on Houghton lake Saturday and caught 2 LM bass 19" and 18" also pulled in a nice 9 7/8" blue gill then got blown off lake.

I would not say it is the "boonies" it's just that Gwinn is not a large town and there are not that many "parks" within the are to accomadate campers needing electrical hook-ups. The tourist park in the center of twon is righth on the Escanaba River. |

TURNIP'S best bet is the Tourist Park, I coiuldn't think of any other places around without going farther away.
Those that are just tenting, should check with some of the resorts around where other members are staying, maybe they could "tuck" you away, and give you a good deal on top of it!!
