I guess it is about time to start discussion on this event. It started in the "Midwest" Forum, Rainy/LOTW fishing trip. I know that some of us have committed to this and I am asking you now to post your intentions. The gathering will be held September, 2009 at LOTW. Walleye Wayne has stated he will attend this gathering! When we have a good idea as to how many are coming, we can search for lodging that will meet our requirements. We will need to make reservations shortly after the first of the year. Wayne said he would help us out with that where he can. Sooo, who's going? turnip, canepole, walleyewayne, LM since 2005 Bushwacker Deputy Sherif |

These are some earlier suggestions for lodging. Any others? Here is one for LOTW... http://www.longpointresort.com/?OVR...5692582521 Originally posted by: Walleye Warrier on 11/5/2007 5:39:10 AM Here is a link to a LOTW lodge I have used in the past near Kenora Ont. This part of the lake is easier to fish if you don't have a very large boat. The south side is very wide open water (Miles and miles) while the north near here is all islands anc channels. Just a thought. http://www.kenora.net/portagelodge/

If fuel prices are still up by January, 2009, I won't be able to attend this get together...Not much more I can say. It it amasing that since retiring I have become aware how the government screws you over...One party wants to tax you to death and the other just wants their money for themselves! I know this sounds bitter, and I apologise if you take offence, but being on a fixed income sucks. And I have planned a head, quite smartly. And if this isn't bad enough, if you are the victim in an auto accident, you lose...Period! Ok, I have blown off enough steam...Thanks for listening! LM since 2005

Well Pete once again we share the same boat. I, too, will be unable to make it for this one. Things were quite different when I first agreed. Time sure makes things take a different light. See you in a month. Disabled Viet Nam vet(USMC 68-69), Life Member since 5/04 |

After talking things over with a few folks, I guess I don't need to take the "Bushwacker" after all...So that means I can fly into WI and ride up with someone...So it's back on the table! LM since 2005 Bushwacker Deputy Sherif |

Can anybody throw their hat in the ring for this? I would defintely be interested. I have fished LOTW, but never Rainey. I always did want to try smallies on Rainey. LOTW was an excellent fishery last time I was there, which was about 8 yrs ago now. We fished pretty much exclusively for walleye. We had a tough time finding small enough fish to finish out our limits. The slot limit was in effect and for the last day and a half, we couldn't hardly find a walleye small enough to keep. I typically do all catch n release, but was "told" I had to bring home some fish that year to justify the cost of the trip. Nice problem to have!!

This gathering is for any that wish to attend. There are two different gatherings addressed in this thread. The first is at Rainy Lake, in the spring. The second is for the LOTW in the fall. You may elect to attend one or both gatherings! BTW, walleyewayne will be attending both gatherings! So, ask your questions here. Organize you trip(s) here. This way information concerning both gatherings are in one place. 2009 is just around the corner so be sure to identify where you wish to lodge. Reservations most likely will be taken starting January first. LM since 2005 Bushwacker Deputy Sherif |

What's the status of this one Pete. I'm still open for this fall, and my arm could possibly be twisted. Do you have a link to the proposed resort? Angry Bob

Sorry to hear that Pete. I know how much you wanted to go. That 20lb pike awaits you. Just so you know Canada isn't the only place those toothy critters get that big. Good luck and I hope you can reschedule and go in the near future. Lifemember and Bushwacker SMF
