Your so right Ray Ray Papa - the credit for the story goes to "Justdave" not Bob, and the trip was in Oregon. Trust me - it took me the whole week to say Oregon right.

I usually get mine pretty early but it still hasn't gotten here. The new carrier might be a fisherman. I'm really anxious to read this one. Be Fishers of People.

Am I imagining things or are the magazines becoming fewer every year??? I see more and more issues covering several months at a time. At one time they used to be one per month...Whats the deal? It seems we keep getting less and less out of our membership all the time! At least this great body of members makes up for the shortness in other areas. I've gained more new friends througfh this club than any other time in my life. Looking forward to the next meet...Dennis/Papa_d Dennis/Papa_d |

Papa-d We've always gotten Seven Magazines a Year > Feb., Mar., Apr., May/June., Jul./Aug./Sept., Oct/Nov.,Dec./Jan. Papa-d I think your problem as well as the rest of us OLD TIMERS is that we're getting OLD instead of hitting the lake everyday to go fishing like we did five years ago we're spending more time in the rocking chair reading/finishing the Magazines before the next issue comes out Take Care "Friends are GOD's way of showing us that we don't have to fish alone" "Take a child fishing"

I have a couple of questions concerning the meet, if it be possible to ask without sounding like a doof. 1.) Should I bring my dingy to the meet (14' low draft skiff w/ 15 hp motor)? 2.) How do meals work? Is it like a community kitchen type thing or feed yerself? 3.) How much are out of state licenses for the period of the meet? 4.) Is there a "list of events" type thing, or is it a come camp and fish type thing? 5.) Probably the most important question, Is there anything "special" I should bring to the meet (gear wise)? I ask this last question, cause here in MT, you can get snow in July. It has happened before. With my first question, with my boat being so small, it only really seats 2 comfortably with gear fishing, and while I would be the type to fish the ocean in it, I would be more apt not to haul it if it would be a waste of time. Just askin.... Any day on the water or in the woods is solitude itself. |

Theo, I use this website when I am seeking a license for the first time in any state: https://www.wildlifelicense.com/ If you look at the postings for the 2008 meet you will get a flavor for how this meet opperates. If you can afford to transport your boat, it is always good to bring it along. You should bge able to handle the water conditions with your equipment. BTW, my journal for this years meet may also give some insight...Your gonna love this meet! LM since 2005 Bushwacker Deputy Sherif |

Theolan, We don't normally get snow, and I wouldn't expect it. I would bring warm clothing though. It can get down into the 40's and 'rarely' cooler. As far as your 14Ft w/15HP motor. It's perfect for the areas around the campground. Goose Island is on the backwaters of the Mississippi. Plenty of deep water and shallow flats were the Big Northerns hang out. .jpg) And if you need to get farther from the campground there is usually a boat headed to the dam that you could stow away on. Theolan Welcome to the LC get together thread . Thanks for the great questions, your boat will do just fine.... as the others explained the campground is located in the back water of the Mississippi river ,a boat of that size would be ideal to get to the hot fishing spots around the island. As for meals : we as a group have breakfast and dinner together from Thursday morning the 16th through Sunday morning the 19th. those members coming early to the meet as well a lunchs each day during the meet are up to members to provide for themselves. I will be posting a update a month or so before the meet regarding the menu and events planed for next years meet. like Turnip stated you can get a feel for what goes on at our meet by visiting and reading the info posted on this years (2008) meet thread As for weather: temps are usually in the 70*- 80* however bring some warm cloths and rain gear just in cass LOL other then that bring what you have as far as gear and injoy with us one of the greatest perks this club has to offer the fellowship of its members doing what they love the most fishing , eating and sharing with each other thier fish stories past and present around a campfire at days end One event I'm sure we are going to have again is the 2 annual Pie eating contest LOL This time my teams going to win LOL Take care and God Bless "Friends are GOD's way of showing us that we don't have to fish alone" "Take a child fishing"

Already talking smack hey Jerry. Well, I think that the pie eating contest went so well that the 2nd annual Pie Eating Contest will be a for sure event. I have something else up my sleeve as well for that Sunday. Theolan - hope you can make it to the meet - you won't be sorry. It is a blast. The fishing is great and the scenery is awesome. Even better though - is the group of people who attend. I am very very proud to not only call them my friends, but my family as well.

Jim, What do you think?? My trainer tolded me the reason my team lost was because I was thinking about / saving room for the thrid and forth helping of fish and onion rings I wanted to eat after the contest instead of the pie. His team was the first to loose. Maybe if I feed James a little more before the competition Jerrys team will have a chance? Jim USArmy 1986-Present Life Member NAFC Member Western Fishers Member Full Moon Fishers "There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want" -- Calvin |
