Well I finally got out on the water up here and here is a taste of how they are doing: Seneca, 5-19-2009 I got out today for the first time this year put in at 12:10 pm first launch by myself this year so I took my time. Every thing went fine and worked without any problems. Water is still cold up here 46* north of the point found some 49*-50* later south of the point marked very few fish but that's normal when the waters this cold 44* 43* down 100'. I had a few marks at 12' to 15' drug a spoon around for those. Marked a few in the 39' in the warmer water south of the point. Most were 110' to 115' but could not get them to fire..............we'll give them a go again in the am. The wiring for the trollmaster worked fine and the new GPS system worked Ok. Just a big Ol skunk !!! Seneca , 5-20-2009 Put about 5 hours in today kind of ruff at the start 7ish and laid down a lot at the finish 1 ish. Started on east side just north of the point made one past thru area that marked fish yesterday then ran across and down lake about 6 miles on the west side. Ran into bait and a few marks in that area ran thru two times but could not get them to fire so worked my way north. Not much on the screen a few here and there with different depths all the time...........wawawa..........anyway at the end the last 30 minutes I had one release without anyone home then picked up a 21" rainbow. Scale was not working so I don't know what it weight. Skunks gone anyway....................... 5-22-2009 Got out with Hoot today do some more pre-fishing for the derby starting at 6am tomorrow. We boated 5 and lost 4 or more fish were deep 100' to 125' down. Spent so time getting stuff ready for the morning and rigging up two downrigger rods with braid to help hook up with those deep fish. 5-23-2009 Derby weekend here we boated 12 lakers and one landlock salmon biggest laker just over 5 # need fish 8# atleast the weight in. We kept 5 from 22" to 25" put landlocked back it was just 15". Fished from 6:00 am till 2:30 pm and called it a day will go back out in the morning. Picked up some on a spoon back 50' down 24". The rest on a BTI pearl squirrel sliver/fly down 120' back 12' and down 110' back 24' ( tail gunner). Nothing on the wire diver. 5-24-2009 We got a later start ole dad (me) got up about 6ish and scrambled to get coffee done and boat uncovered. Started out with a light rain we ran across north of where we got them yesterday figure I would run straight across lake and set up and troll to our spot. We picked up three fish put two of them in the box (22" or so). Got call from my buddy Jason said they were doing some real nice north so we just took our time and trolled in that direction. We were happy with the two in the box so we figured let see if we can get into some thing bigger for the derby. Trolled north above long point before we found any thing hungry and boxed one over 5# and one about 5#. Picked up a few more nice fish but nothing huge. Then we picked up a nice 5+#er and I was wondering where to box it and that would be my three for the day or keep going for one to weight in , put it back. Later one ripped and I was on it boated it and it was just shy of 7# so I box that one and let Hoot have at for his last one. ( Hoot said that big one was his turn and should have been his fish. I said OK then I'm up.............he said JK it's your fish my turn NOW !!!!!! LOL )After he missed hooking up on two and lost one on the three color core he finally got one too the net. So we called it a day and got back to camp just after three. We boated at least 12 all were good fish in the 22"+ range and 4 boxed over 5# and missed or lost around 5. 5-25-2009 We boated 6 fish today with one just shy of 30" 7# 6 oz. still not big enough to weight in. 5 lakers and a 16" landlock . Done till next year.................. A few fish from the past few days............. Then the boys came over the next day to get a GOOD look....LOL The biggest one for the year so far !!!

I've thought , and thought about this shirt thing and it's a P.I.T.A. When it's done I get a warm feeling passing them out and all but all the crap I have to put up with on both ends ( folks ordering them in a timely manner- the shirt guy getting messed up on the order - then collecting the money some pay ahead some pay later some ask me if they did pay ahead...... did I forget to write down someone payment........well you get the idea ) So if ya all want shirts for this meet this year someone will have to step-up and GET IT DONE. |
