Are there any members in the Lake, McHenry, Kane and North Cook cty area that might be interested in a Micromeet? I would be willing to do the legwork and organizing if there is enough interest. I'm thinking that 15 or so members makes it woth my while. If I get enough interest, I will try to set something up as close to the middle of my responses as I can. Please post instead of a PM as a post is visible to all, and lets those on the fence know that there are others out there! If this works out, we may be able to establish a Chain-O-Lakes sub chapter of the Club. Tom |

Hi Pegsguy. I've had a few mini meets here in West Chicago, but that's DuPage county so it might be outside the area you're thinking of. We usually don't form chapters. That can get into having rules and regulations and dues and stuff like that. We just figure if you want to get together to fish or whatever, just do it. Less hassle that way. You should come up to the annual meet in July in La Crosse WI this year. It is a GREAT time and you'll meet a lot of wonderful NAFC members. Be Fishers of Men,

Lazarus et al: Not really interested in going through all the BS involved in a formal chapter, just would like to get a group of like-minded souls together. I didn't mean to exclude any Dupage Cty members. If I can get 15-20 people to commit, I will make arrangements in the geographical center of those who commit. I appologise to any Dupage members who feel slighted. No offense intended. As a fact, anyone who would like to make the trip is welcome, but as this will be an event measured in hours rather than days, I thought to keep it local. Tom |

Pegsguy: No offense taken, I didn't mean it that way. If you put something together for after the weather breaks into spring, let me know. I have a few exceptions though, I will not put my boat in the Chain-o-Lakes. It's suicide on the weekends and I don't want to pay the high $$ for the boat sticker. Be Fishers of Men,

I talked to a freind who owns a sports bar & grill about hosting us for a meet. He was very positive, and I have scheduled a meet&greet for the 21st of March at Wool St bar & Grill in Cary, Il. There will be a map and GPS coordinates posted shortly. This will be a no fee, show up and enjoy thing, food and beverage will be available. While I don't need to make reservations, it would be nice to give Mark a head count so that he can schedule enough help to adequately take care of us. Anyone interested can email me at mech60014-nafc@yahoo.com or post here. Tom |

Sorry Tom, I have a meeting scheduled for that day so I can't make it. March is really jam packed. Sounds like a fun time though. Be Fishers of Men,

Lazarus: I can move this to earlier in March or push it back to early April to get you and MG to attend. I still would like to make this happen before the soft water fishing season starts here in Northern Illinois. Tom |

How does 4-4-09 work for everybody? Laz sez that march is bad for him. April 4 should still be early enough to avoid taking anyone off the water unless it happens to be the trout opening, in which case anyone who wants to can fish for trout about 1 mile up the road at The Hollows(Lake Attwood) and then join us. I sure would like to meet some of the local members, or for that fact, any locals that are thinking about joining. Tom |

Ok, start again. Meet has been moved to April 4, 2009 at Wool St Grill and Sports Bar in Cary, Il. I will post a street address shortly, I honestly never gave the address a thought until tonite. For the GPS enabled, 42.13.060 N- 88.15.199 W is close enough for a visual. For anyone that knows the Cary area, Wool St is behind the Cary Jewel and just south of the Post Office. If anyone has a freind that is thinking about joining the Club, this might be a time to bring 'em along. I would like to start at 1PM and go until. If you are interested, I can be reached at mech60014-nafc@yahoo.com, but it would be helpful if anyone interested replied to this post so that it stays near the top! Tom |

OK, still trying. I am planning a mini meet in Cary, Il(NW suburban Chicago) on April 4, 2009 at Wool St. Grill and Sports Bar at 800 Feinberg Ct. If I get any responses, I will post a map. This is scheduled for 1pm until? Food and beverage will be available, the food there is excellent. I can be reached by PM or at mech60014-nafc@yahoo.com. I don't need a firm commitment, just intent would be fine. Tom |

April is bad for me. The only weekend I have off a month will be used for getting my boat worked on and finished in time for the opener in May. Sorry. Hope you'll be able to make it to LaCrosse. Milwaukee, Wisconsin |

Well This should be easy. Pegs and myself have been brain bashing on the idea of a get together. We have heard from a few people but would like to see more people show interest. Toss us some ideas, Pegs has a nice comfortable location that can seat a good number of people. The possibility of opening the meet to non club members came up, maybe leading to more members that can tell us tales and share their vast knowledge with us. We wanted to even see about getting the support of some local bait shops to make for a more informative and productive meet.
I think Pegs and I are onto something as far as trying to set up a meeting thats more that a few people in a back yard with a miller light just talking. We wanted to be able to introduce new comers to the sport, trade, and lifestyle of what we do here and thats fishing.
Let us know what you guys think I have a lot of time on my hands and would be happy to "work" a little bit to be able to watch people come together and bond over a mutual love. |

Well Angry, If you want to attend go for it. People coming and interacting with other members and enjoying what it is we do is the goal. I would love to see some not so local people partake in the meet. The meet is more targeted for Fisherman be it club member or not, far and near. Pegs and myself came to the conclusion that the social part can be such a vital asset. The growth of the club, expansion of knowledge through experience, a bait shops support in a comfortable atmosphere could be a great time and you might be able to walk away with new tricks, knowledge, contacts, and maybe more. PM us with your thoughts, Pegs needs to get a minimum number of people to attend in order to secure the location.
While the water is cold and the weather changing like it does a 1 day meet will definitely quench the thirst for fishing.

I saw the ad run in the NW Herald. Nice job, with the publicity that this meet is getting there may be a large turn out. More non club members but, still. I'd like to put up some flyers local here. I wonder if I can get Star 105.5 to mention it? Lots of people would equal lots of knowledge and some interesting whale tails.

Still hoping for some response to this. Hey, get out to Lake Atwood in The Hollows Cons. area, catch your limit and drive about a mile south and hook up with us at the meet! Tom |
