Everyone is welcome to attend.....Members as well as non-members. The dates are as follows:

    May 7th,8th,9th &10th.

There will be some members there from the 4th thru the 10th. So the first group site will be available on monday and the second one will be available on thursday. Now here is the info that I am transferring over from the Ohio Chapter site to save typing time. This following info was posted by Arv1 on the Ohio Chapter Site :

As most of you already know the May meet will be held at West Branch State Park. West Branch is located by Ravenna. This is the same place we held it last year. Those that attended last year may remember that the weather didn't cooperate very well and the fishing was really tough. Hopefully this year will be better.

For those that don't know anything about West Branch, this is one of the main lakes in Ohio that receives annual stockings of muskie and does have record size muskie in it. It has a good population of LM and SM bass and a residual stocking of stripers from previous stockings. All of these species are good size. There are of course plenty crappie and gills all with their share of respectable sizes. Add on cats and pike and you have a pretty good fishery. There is a boat ramp at by the camp site and boats are unlimited.

Weather wise it sits right on the outer edges of the snow belt, and May in Ohio is unpredictable at best, however; May usually marks the biggest weather changes in this part of the state and the spawn cycles of the different fish species correspond with the weather changes. Meaning there is a lot of over lapping of cycles and feeding of the different fish species make it a good time to hit the water. Last year the weather was cool and windy during the day with light drizzle off and on and at night it was a little cold but nothing a blanket couldn't cure. It did make the hot freshly brewed coffee taste all that much better.

The lake has a lot of sudden points, drop offs, vegetation areas and several small islands to fish around. Water access from shore is available but somewhat sparse in some areas. It is a somewhat large lake and can catch some pretty good wind gusts. All in all if the weather cooperates it is a good lake to fish in and is a premier muskie lake.

We will once again be using the group sites. We will have one site from Thursday through Sunday and the second site Friday through Sunday. Capt. Jerry of PLAYINHOOKY CHARTERS will once again pay for the one site from Thursday to Sunday.  The group sites cost $40.00 per night with electric, which we did use. All monies for the sites need to be to me before March 3, 2009. That is when I will be making the reservations. Anyone wanting to help in the cost of one night for a site, please post it here.  Aarhunt said he would pay for one night.  I will pay for one night.  The weekend costs are covered.  If anyone would want to be there all week, we would need 3 more nights paid for.  Then we would have one group site for the entire week.

Anyone that wishes to use the group sites will be able to do so for no cost. If you choose to use other camp sites it will be your responsibility. Those reservations must be made directly thru the ODNR, either on line or over the phone.

One other thing that is different in order to help cut the chapter’s cost it was discussed and voted on to charge $2.00 per adult per day. This is to help defray the cost of Coffee, paper products and other misc. supplies we need to make the meet successful. If you wish to come, and for whatever the reason can't afford the $2.00 per night per adult, let me know and we will see what we can work out. I would hate to let anybody miss out on a great time over a couple of bucks. Don't be shy let me or one of the officers know by sending a pm, I have been through some real rough times myself before, and know what it is like.

This year we will have a boat sign up at the registration table for those that are bringing a boat and wouldn't mind sharing the space with someone that doesn't have a boat. It will be time specific and we ask anyone with a boat with extra space to share it with another member.

As chairman I believe that it is the chapter’s responsibility to offer some security for our campers and their property at the camp site. We will have a signup at the registration table for members to sign up and share the responsibility, instead of having a few people do it. This will give everyone some fishing and family time.

Other changes include an itinerary that will be handed out at the registration table to everyone as they sign in. It will include planned activities, kids’ activities, meal times, meeting times, and what ever else we need to put on it. Sounds busy but there will be plenty of fishing time, the idea is so everyone knows what is going on and when. As always it is up to the individual if they wish to take part in any activity. A group picture will also be on the agenda and that is the one thing we really want everyone to be a part of.

We keep you posted here for any additional information that comes up about the meet so please check right here often. If you have questions concerning any of this information please ask here otherwise please post questions under the specific topic. This will help us keep track of things.

Under this heading you will see several topics regarding the May meet. Please post your information under the specific topic heading. In order to make it easier to follow please resist from posting any commentary. Post commentary in the other areas of our web site. We will be monitoring this area at least daily so we can keep records and make sure we are up to date. It is difficult to follow so much information when there is extra commentary clogging it up.

We will monitor this site and the club site, so there will be duplicate sign up areas. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE sign up only on one site. WE WILL BE CHECKING BOTH SITES at least once a day and writing it down in case there are any computer problems. There will eventually be a master list posted under the appropriate topic and it will be kept current. Again please do not post on both our chapter site and the club site only post one time. If you don't see your information posted when the master is updated let Amym know and she will take care of it.

I think I got it all, finally, so please read over everything carefully and thank you for your cooperation.

    God Bless

    Arv1

    And if that wasn't enough.....Heres More !!!!!

    .

The meet dates for 2009 are as follows. The dates were voted on at the mini meet in October. It was decided by the members present that they would like to have the schedule set for 2009, so they would have time to plan vacations and such. These dates will hold unless something unforseen happens, forcing us to change the dates.

The big meet will be May 7, 8, 9, and 10th, The first mini meet will be July 9, 10, 11, and 12th and the next will be August 28, 29, and 30th. We will also be planning on a date for a catfish tournament at Rayland Marina. The original date was going to be Sept. 25, 26, and 27th. At this time it doesn't look like those dates will be available. We will have to see what we can do.

The catfish tounament is a fundraiser for the chapter and will actually be for only 1 night, but it will also be a great opportunity to have another meet. We will need several people to help pull this off. Our members will not be able to enter the tournament but will be able to fish after we get the tournament started. This is a great opportunity for us to raise some money for the chapter. There will be plenty more to come about this in the near future.

The May meet will be held at West Branch once again, we haven't heard of any place better as of yet that can accommodate our needs. I will be trying to get the state to let us use the golf cart. Unfortunately I can't guarantee I can get them to bend but, I will be working on it.

We are looking at one location for a mini meet near Columbus and a location near Cinncinnatti for the other mini meet. We are also looking at Kelly's Island as a location for a possible meet site, but it may be cost preventative. It may be a bonus meet.

For those that haven't heard Playin Hooky bought an enclosed trailer for us to use as storage. It is currently stored in his barn and will be made available for us to use as needed. A big THANK YOU goes out to you Jerry.

Even though I personnally haven't posted much over the past weeks I assure you that I have been monitoring the site and have had Amy post several things on my behalf. This is mainly because I have been very busy at work and have had very little time there to get on line and I have been spending a lot of time at Amy's, we usually sit and check out the site together.

It is time to get in the planning mode for our 2009 season after having an eventful 2008 season. All I can say is buckle up and get ready for the ride. Our next regular meeting will be in January and Nana will be making those arrangements. We are planning on a holiday meal and the first big planning session for 2009. The good thing is we won't be holdiing elections in 2009 so we can concentrate more on planning. The exact location is yet to be announced, but it will be around the Dayton area.

I want to remind everyone that your input is important and we post information far enough in advance that our members should be able to plan around their schedules a bit.

I have heard of a few complaints about locations and dates of different events for our Chapter. In response to those complaints, I would like to remind everyone one that dates and locations are voted on by the members attending the various meetings, so if you wish to voice your opinion attend the meetings. Another thing to keep in mind everyone is given an opportunity to add to the agenda before the meeting and also during the meetings. If you have something to be discussed at the meeting you need to be there so you have the chance. That is the only way to know what you are thinking about. EVERYONES' OPINION IS IMPORTANT AND WELCOME!!!!!!

You can see we have a busy year ahead of us and we all need to hunker down and get off to a good start.  The success for the 2009 season rest on all of our shoulders. I am up for it, are you????

    Your Chairman
    Arv

As of right now, we only have 2 Charter Fishing Trips that we are going to raffle off and our Big Box of tackle/fishing gear has grown with a new value of at least $500.00.

Tickets for either of these 2 raffles are $5.00 each or 5 tickets for $20.00 If anyone would like to purchase tickets, please send me a PM and I will get you hooked up. These 2 raffles are "open to the public" so anyone can purchase these tickets.

Our other fishing/camping gear raffle to be held at the meet, tickets will only be on sale at the meet so please plan on attending the Ohio Chapter's May Meet and come expecting to have a grape time!!!!!!

Today is the first day of the 2009 Ohio Meet. Hope to see some of you from Ohio there. Keep your fingers crossed for better weather, the forecast is for rain the entire time and the band has already called and cancelled and said they will come to one of the "mini-meets" and play for us when the weather is nicer. But, rain or shine, most of us will be there.....
