The weather was great! Fishing was all not that bad. I had a great weekend and enjoyed some good conversation and fishing with Wellsley. We were able to hit both lakes and had a good time.

The chili on Friday was excellent but my wife almost made me sleep out on the lawn. I did enjoy saying hello to a bunch of good folks. I am sorry the WindChill Factory was not open... next year. Oh yeah... I heard that sombody likes to play rotten tricks with ice cream dishes. Now that isn't nice; but I do think it's funny.

I'm home know but not for long. I don't have time to put up a report at the moment. But when I get back I will try my best. It was a great meet and it was good to see everyone. Some are still there and are coming home thursday. The weather was the best. No heaters needed this year. No rain gear or snow gear needed either. There was a good mix of states represented. There was the following states represented Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and Florida.

PS: Sorry PA John the devil made me do it.

I will put together a report, but this is going to take me weeks to accomplish. I'm going to be in and out for the next few weeks. So bare with me.

I Arrived at Rogers Rock campground at noon.
Before I could get set up Patrick (jarhead) & Sean (his son) get back from a morning of sucessful fishing. Good to see them again.
After I get set up I go down & greet Karl (turtle) and Denise they are putting the finishing touches on their camp. It wasn't long before PA John shows up. Robbie , Wayne (son) and grandson are staying in town at the super 8 so are two of John's (Pappy) friends from Maine. Walt (fishing-eagle) gets there around 5pm, Sam & Rick shortly after. They spent most of the day on the water Sam caught a nice pike. Patrick has the meal set for 6pm.
At 5:30 Pappy decides to take a shower. Patrick says that will take an hour and 15 minutes. Dinner will be late if we wait. The dinner (chili) was great & great laughs  around the campfire. Well that raps up day one. You will have to wait a week for more. Sorry but thats the best I can do.

Hey Erabbit and Turnip, ya both missed a nice meet. We also missed seeing your smiling faces and I missed having any pie. I could add some more to the news about the meet but I am going to let Frank update us all because he promised he would. I know he has been busy the past week... yes he is out fishing with his lovely fishing partner. I bet she catches the biggest one. Anyway... I did have a nice weekend last week and I enjoyed some good fishing and company on my new boat. Frank and I did get to go fishing for Lakers on Lake George and LL Salmon on Lake Champlain and we had some success on both lakes. What counted is that we did not get skunked and we had a good time and some laughs. Maybe I will let Frank fill you all in on the laughs.

The weather here on Lake Champlain & Lake George is even more fantastic this weekend. The lakes have been calm and the wind has been minimal to make for good fishing. I was out yesterday on Lake Champlain (same area as last week, Frank) and I had 6 hook-ups with the LL Salmon. My avatar is from yesterday with that 21" LL Salmon weighing in at 4lbs 6oz which kicked off the morning after a release with nobody home. It was a great way to start off the day.

Saturday Morning Pappy is the first up and is on th road shortly after 6am. Sam & Rick are next to follow. Patrick is moving about around 6:45 he will have to wait for PA John to feed his mule. lol. No sign of life from Karl. Time for me to go meet Walt at 8 am. Walt pulls in with his new boat the

Right on time, we launch on Lake George at mossy point. Shortly there after we are trolling  & my rod fires the tip is bouncing up & down. It feels like a good fish. Nope it is junk off the bottom. ( thats my story and I'm sticking to it ) lol Walt might say it was a mono fish. lol   At 10 am my rod fires again  a nice fat 24" laker. In the box it goes.

A little while later another short one for me than one for Walt. Next thing we get a double. My rod fired first and the fish takes the line hard to port. Crossing Walts line. Walt brings his in and skillfully jumps my line preventing a messy tangle. A just legal one for me and a short one for Walt. We put both of them back.  Then Walt reel in his line only to find the lure is gone. Next bam my rod is bent right over and nothing. I reel in and my lure is gone. I believe I was 60' down and 10' off the bottom. What ever it was ripped through 15lb flouro-carbon leader. A little while later I get another short one. Then all of a sudden Walt snags bottom (oh no!!!) We shut off the kicker motor but we are still drifting away from the lure. I start the big motor and head towards the lure wait a minute the line is still striping out. Its a fish Walt yells. I power up to over take it and Walt brings the laker to the surface. Its the biggest of the trip at 25". But what a fighter. Walt says WoW thats never happened before. It had over 300' of line out and we were in only 70 FOW. In the box it went.
Back to camp, Walt was taking his lovely wife Sharon out to dinner, the rest of the gang was going to the dinner for supper at 6 pm. Me I was in need of a shower after which I went into Ticonderoga for Ice cream. PA John was upset because the ice cream store on the way to town burned down. But I found one on the other side of town. And I was nice enough to leave the empty dish on his pick nic table. lol  I told ya the devil made me do it. Patrick, Pappy and Sam all had gone to TI ramp and fished Champlain today the water was so rough they had to leave early. Pappy said the fishing was real slow but he did manage a 10lb pike.

That raps up day two.
Sunday Morning I'm up at 6 am start getting things around. Go over to Patrick's camp Rick & Sam are leaving for
home. Pappy is getting ready to go to TI ramp and Patrick will have to wait for PA John to feed his mule. lol No life
from Karl's camp.  A few good byes and everyone is off. I'm headed up to Crown Point to meet Walt.
I meet up with Walt and we run up to Port Henry on Lake Champlain & put in. After a few passes Walt gets something. Its a LL salmon, he's is jumping up and down first Salmon in the new boat. Its a nice fat 19"er.

Several more passes then called it quits, time to pack up & go home.
Here is fishing-eagle with his new boat, good luck with it I'm sure you will have many memorable moments on it.

Thank You Walt for a great time it was a reel delight!!!

Some of the people that could not make it were missed. Their sites empty but our memories full.

Bill & Sally,

Ed & Carrol

Dennis

Pete
For those of you that could not make it I hope that our fishing lines cross again in the future.
For those of you that have not attended a fishing meet do so you won't regret it. I sat around the fire and listen to Patrick, PA John and Robbie. Who are the only members to make all 11 Northeast meets who never new each other before this club started. It amazes me that total strangers can come together and bond  and such strong friendships be formed. I am honored to be apart of such a group and have had the pleasure to meet everyone.
Thank you Patrick for all your effort keeping this meet going.

Sounds like you got a good plan there Walt keep up the good work. I look forward to the pic's.
I'd have to learn how to spell before I could be a writer. Oh and then there is gramma, I'm not very good with that either. lol

I'M BACK !!! Now lets get things straight about the NE Meet. First of all who was the "Smart A--" that left the ice cream cup at my campsite? You knew damn well I was having a bad time, with the Wind Chill Factory burning down. After 6 mos of intense therapy I am getting over it. The next thing I must get straight is this year I think I caught the biggest Bass. I think I embarassed the N J gang and they are not posting. They all left a day early(Do not let Patrick tell you he hurt his back and had to leav. I spent the last day relaxing at my campsite, because my arms were tired from reeling in all those Bass. It sure was nice up there this year,it was a little too warm and made it more dfficult reeling in those big Bass. As us Amish do not have cameras or allow picture's to be taken,I can not post pictures of the many hugh Bass I caught. I have to go milk some Ducks now .more later, PA John

PA John.... it was not I but I think maybe you should go back and read all the posts here on the meet. I think you missed a confession somewhere. Now I can't comment on the biggest Bass or wether or not anybody had a bad back, so I won't express my opinion about all of that. Yet I must agree with you that there has not been much to be heard about the NE Meet this year; but, I must say that Wellsley did a great report with photos and everything. I think you might want to consider the great report while considering any other facts.

I do think we need to hear more about the NE Meet... at least  we should start talking about dates for the upcoming year.

Oh yes the ice cream is mmmmm mmm good. My wife and I have stopped there a couple of times since they re-opened this season. But then, unlike some unlucky visitors to the area, we are here nearly every weekend from April through October when also the Windchill is also open. Yes Frank, we get to sample all their different flavors often. I really do like their thick strawberry milkshakes.

Some people will just have to wait to the next NE Meet for ice cream.

fishing-eagle you are killing me with these posts. I do not like the new look of the Wind Chill Factory as much as the old plain white building. But hope the ice cream is as good. Do not tell me how good it is or how many times you eat it. It cause me great agony to hear about it. I can not wait until next NE Meet as I may not fish and just go to the Wind Chill everyday. Enjoy,PA
