I was just reading  some realy Funny & Crazy stuff on line  about how Supersticous Fisherman are and in all parts of the world there are different "No, No's" when it comes to Fishing. Holy Cow, we Fishermen realy are a crazy Bunch!!!! I'm Not just talking about, wearing your  lucky shirt or lucky hat of No Bannanas or Woman on the boat,(Hey I'll take all the woman on my boat I can fit) No, I mean realy crazy stuff, it's Endless. My favorite Old Time Supersticion,  which I must admit, I do adhere to, is, When your headed out to go fishing, NEVER pet the Dog on your way out, Guarenteed Bad Luck. Now I know it's obviously Not True, hell I have buddies who take their Dogs on the boat with them  but hey...why take a chance, right!  So what Crazy Fishing Superticion are you a Slave To?????

When i saw this DANO, i cant beleive alot more members (includeing me) Havent shared this with each other, i am very supersticious befor i go out, my wife thinks im crazy!!!! (maybee i am) But to me, you should never leave the house without changeing your clothes that you just put on FRESH that morning? And  when you board the boat, i spray wd40 on my hands before i touch my pole and tackle, my freinds say im crazy, but i allways out fish them?????? I could be nuts, but it works for me!!!

I never take the camera out so it is ready nor do I dig out the net to get it ready - both I find are bad luck.

Hey Walleyguy,  I Too,thought thsi topic would be one that most  wouldn't  be able to resist commenting on. I think it's a realy fascinating,& funny subject. An old timer I know told me to allways drive past the dairy farms on my way to go fishing and if the Cows are laying down...JUST GO HOME!!!  There's a bad storm coming and the Fish won't bite! Well my son & I got Skunked one day last summer and so, we drove home that way and sure enough, there wasn't a Cow Standing! Our Fishing Motto Now Is..."Trust Noone, Trust The Cows!"

i need to wear somthing with a fish on it! it's a must..

 

I usually wear a fishing hat of some kind. Usually my NAFC fishing cap. I don't believe there are any Superstitions about fishing.

However the old theory  "Fish bite the least when the wind blows from The East" seems to hold truth. However I have caught many fish on days when the wind blew from the East. esp. when I could get in calm water like a hill  or cove blocking the East Winds.

This sounds like one of those bad luck theories >> like Never win the First hand playing Poker. I knew a guy that truly believed that. He would lose nearly all night if he won the first hand in our old 25 cent limit card game. He would fold nearly every first hand most of the time. 

I have won many more times than I lost on a night after winning the first hand.

also a cold front could be to blame for the east wind therory, some have truth to them, but after a few days of a consitant cold front the bite will pick up again

 

the petting the dog before fishing is kinda true too, what catfish would want to bite a bait with a slight  dog smell to it? lol

 

one old buddy of my grandmaws would play us as kids, one day i will do it to my kids & friends,(maybe you too i dout i hear any admitions tho`),anyway, we would fish for perch/bream for bait during the day to set jugs out @ night, well he would wait till he had a fish on then 'fart' in that old aluminum boat and holler "fish on" , we would say "we don't believe you", so he would do it again, he'd wait for a fish to be on 'fart' and holler "see it work'd again!"he would say "why dont you believ me?" we believed it for a while, untill  are innerds hurt after a while from forcing it! LOL excuse me!
