    The number of U.S. anglers is greater than the population of California.

    Largemouth Bass is the most popular freshwater fish (1 out of 3 anglers)

    Flounder is the most targeted saltwater fish.

    In 2006 more anglers fished than jogged or played golf.

    45% of anglers come from cities of 1 million or more people.

    51% of anglers have a household income over $50,000

    17% have a household income over $100,000.

    25% of the anglers are women.

    Nearly 50% of all anglers are between 35-54 years old.

    Last year anglers spent $5.3 billion on equipment.

    $4.3 billion on food.

    $2 billion on lodging.

    $1.1 billion on bait.

    (Get this...) it seems we spent $378 million on ice, lol.

    Since I practice catch and release, I just put the plug in my livewell and fill with ice.  That way I don't need a cooler in the way!

    Good info YB.  I bet some of the ice was used by un-educated fishermen thinking they were ice fishing :)
