Thanks for the post, Dave. When everyone weighs in, I'll spend time transferring the posts from the initial Pm to the new PM.

OK guyz...this is LAST CALL for folks interested in getting together at LOTW and / or Rainy in 2009.

There's a PM that was started..and unfortunately there were a couple of folks left out of it....and after re-reading this thread...even more were left out Frowner<!--graemlin::(-->

SO if YOU have an INITIAL inkling to coming to one lake or the other...post it here...and we'll get a PM started with ALL the folks Big Grin<!--graemlin::D-->

Wow. We're gonna start another meet here. Maybe two. I'm interested in LOTW mostly, but Rainey is good too. Unfortunately, June is not usually a good month for me to get away, but it is the best time for fishing. I have fished both of these lakes and they are both good lakes for about all species. They are both very BIG also, so a GPS is good to have on board. I prefer to fish the East side of LOTW because of all the islands and structure. Of course, that same structure can be tough on your prop if you're not alert.

I'm in. Rainy lake first, because our cottage is on there, and then Lake of the Woods. Much has been written already, but we'll wait for turnip to copy over the initial PM so others can get caught up on what's been written already.

Lipper, if you cross the border by plane or ship then you will need a passport. Starting in 2008 you will need a passport no matter how you cross the borded. Of course this all goes up in smoke if the government changes it's mind! Roll Eyes<!--graemlin::rolleyes:--> Wink<!--graemlin:;)-->

There is plenty of lake on both sides of the border. Just be sure you stay legal fishing wise. Ask WW just how prickly the border guards on the water can be. Prickly isn't quite the word WW used tho. Big Grin<!--graemlin::D-->

My understanding is that whichever shore you launch from is the license you need. Please correct me if I am wrong!

You're wrong. That may hold true between states in the U.S. but not internationally. If you launch in the U.S. and cross into Canadian waters, you'd better have a Canadian license and vise versa. The Great Lakes too. ie: If you launch on Lake Michigan in Illinois and cross into Wisconsin, you'd better have a Wisconsin license.

Lipper, your request has been duly noted. Wink<!--graemlin:;)--> Ok, thanks Ray. But for your info most states have reciprocating licenses. Not sure about the Great Lakes tho... Eeker<!--graemlin::eek:-->
