Originally posted by: WalleyeWayne on 1/13/2005 7:46:39 PM My sincere apologies Norhternpike48 but I didn't see this post until tonight. Whitefish Lake is an hours drive from where I live and is one of the most popular walleye fisheries around. The lake is not big and has an average depth of just over 6' but it has everything needed to be a self-sustaining lake. It has northen pike in decent sizes and perch, when you can find them. There are probably over 100 camps on the lake and a few resorts (Cedar Sites Resort) and also a very good sized public launch free of charge. I've got a map of the lake if you're interested and can e-mail it to you. Ice fishing is second only to Lac Des Milles Lac. The lake is hit hard year round but just continues to produce excellent fishing so it's one I'd recommend for sure. If you need anymore info. just ask. If you're moving here we may have to consider some fishing together if you're interested. |

I will have to fly up in February to check on property prior to purchase. I have my eye on a waterfront site. We will definitly have to hook up once I'm on the ground so you can point out the fish'n holes I've had enough of Toronto and it's time to move on. |

After over a quarter century serving in the military and being moved every 4 years (or less) I hope this is the second last move I make. (the last one will be in a pine box to what I believe is considered a "basement apartment") I'll travel a different road and instead of retiring south I'll head north and avoid the rat race. I have lived in some pretty inhospitable places in the world so it's time for me to go where I can relax. Looking forward to backing the boat into the water this spring on a good old canadian shield lake |

We have well over 1 meter of snow so far and we're halfway through winter. My walkway has a 4' chain link fence and you can step over it when walking on top of the snow. My driveway snowbanks are over the top of the cab of my truck. It is too high to shovel the snow up there. Only the snowblower can get the lighter stuff up that high. |

Have you had any problem with those Great White Snow Sharks lately? I hear when the snow gets up to truck window level, they will attack you on the street and try to drag you out of the cab.
If you do have trouble just give me a call and I'll head up to the Great White North with a couple of heavy fly rods. I'd like to catch one of those buggers.

Get a couple a guys in the back of the pickup (cap on and back window open) then tie on one of them southern ontario guys and throw him out the back. Cruise likely spots, taverns, coffee shops etc. (remember to keep the speed down as you might rip some of the designer clothing if you drag him) Once you have the snow shark on, pull the pair in close to the truck until you can get a good swing at the great white with the snow scraper (metal and none of them newfangled curved handle models) with any luck you can throw the "bait" back where you found him |

Originally posted by: John C. I do catch and release most of the time but I could keep one driver as trolling bait.
Whacking and poking your Snow Sharks with shovels and ice scrapers just might give those abused critters a bad attitude before I make my way up to The Great White North. I suppose I'll have to bring along my heavy duty C&S fishing rig (Catch and Shoot--Browning .338 with a super duty cable tied to the gun barrel). A "C&S" rig in Kansas is pretty mild, a Winchester 94 and a catfish line.
Save some of those SnowPlow Drivers, Great White Snow Sharks and Labatt's for me.----------JCT (shark hunter/fisher). |

I know the Pike and Pickerel are good up your way
