yes you do!!! you can get a passport or the new thing is a pass card the card is like $45 the passport is $120.  the passport is more for going over seas. the card will get you into Canada and Mexico.  The passport will also work but you do need a passport starting this June, not positive on the date.

Not yet! Unless your flying into Canada, then you will. Here in NY residence can get what is called an enhanced drivers lic. and it will allow for border crossings by land or water. Not air though. You will need a passport for that.

They say in about a year you will need a passport no matter what to get into Canada and back into the States.  As of now you only need it when flying across the border.  To get across from land or sea they recommend two forms of Identification.  This means a drivers license and birth certificate.  I've gotten across with only one form of ID but I had to visit customs.

WHEN I CAME HOME FROM CANADA LAST SEPTEMBER(200, THE CUSTOMS AGENT AT THE CHECK POINT TOLD US THAT EVERYBODY WILL NEED A PASSPORT TO ENTER THE UNITED STATES AND THEY SAID A BIRTH CERTIFICATE & DRIVERS LICENSE(PHOTO ID) WILL NOT WORK ANYMORE, SO TO ME THAT MEANS YOU ARE BETTER OFF HAVING A REGULAR PASSPORT OR THE PASSPORT CARD AND YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY WORRIES. AS A MATTER OF FACT I'M LEAVING TOMORROW MORNING FOR CANADA AND WILL RETURN ON THE 22nd OF MAY AND I''L LET EVERYONE KNOW WHAT THEY SAY AT THE BORDER.
