hey again jimmie, i usually take my canoe (i didn't think taking my kids on a kayak would turn out too well) to burke lake, good bass fishing there....although it gets a ton of pressure, especially now that the weather is warming up.......the occoquan reservoir is another good one i have done well there.....not as much pressure and a lot of water to cover........the rapahannock river south of here is great for smallmouth above the fall line......i'm actually gonna head down there sometime throguht this week and see if i can't find some of the stripers below the fall line.....the upper potomac is another good one if you like smallmouth........and there are many small lakes around that are only accesible by canoe or kayak......good luck

Depending where you would like to fish. Here`s a list:Burk Lake,Lake Jackson and Occuaquan park all located on 123 towards Woodbridge in Lorton. You can launch by Ragan National into the Patomac Their should be a couple places to launch near or in Old Town Alex.

If you get the chance and want to drive alittle go to the Rappahanic River in Fredricksburg theres a city dock at the end of Old town great fishing clean water.

    Old gaurd angler,
Turn on 123 from US-1 and its a about 2 miles or so on the left. Basically it`s the other side of Occuaquan. It` s worth it.If I remember right it`s bigger than Burk lake. It`` might`` be no gas engines, not sure..
If your stationed at Belvior, get a map there`s plenty of lakes close to you.One place to check out is a bit of a drive:Lake Orange in Orange co.down south;take 95 to rt3 Fredricksburg exit towards Culpepper about 15 miles take left on Rt.15 and go about 20+ you`ll see a sign to take a left and that takes you right there.Deffinately no gas eng. They stock it ,it cost to fish there but worth it.It`s privatly owned.Lots of crappie bass ect...My daughter at 2 was trying to hit ducks with a little pole I haveand caught a citation bass using a bobber and a minow.Bait and everything else you can buy there.
                              I`m also ex Army,86-90.
