Retired psg thanks for the sorrow, but it's not your fault and yes the dam next to it has went bad the ranger said,so they had to lower the waters in the other part is what the ranger said. It's been low for the past 2 years now and it's like the only state park in my area, the others are little parks with hardly nothing in them.In some areas the fish were floating on top dead, like there's toxic in the waters. In this area they're not very clean with the waters. They'll report the problem but never fix it.A year ago this one small park had stuff in its waters and they just said if you catch any you may wanna release only or it can make you sick, but they never updated anyone on it as clean safe to eat or any of that only that it will make you sick if you keep any and that is no good. You also want a nice dinner of your own(a catch and clean dinner) and they just say you'll get sick by eating any,but they don't act like they'll clean the place up.My area is no good for fishing.I have to travel to the next city to catch anything good, because in my city the waters are either too low or toxic to catch anything. My area is A GREAT DISASTER which is why I plan to relocate at some point.I'm just gonna tell you the area and if any of you come to it,tell me if you get lcuky because so far everyone is my area who fishes, even boaters, are saying they haven't caught a thing decent enough. The area is Mc Minnville TN and the state park I was talking about was Rock Island state park and that is a park you want to avoid if you ever visit the area. You might not like this area if you ever come across it.Nothing's biting and all the news people say in the paper is it's toxic, but they haven't announced any cleaning of it and that's not very safe if you like to catch and clean for a nice meal.If anyone here visits this area tell me how lucky you get, because so far noone in this area is pulling up much of anything, only little bluegill if you're lucky, nothing too good, but that's the area to avoid if you ever come across and if you do and get lucky, give me a holler and tell me how because almost everyone here will tell you the same thing. It actually is good for one thing,it brings alot of people here together just to discuss what luck they haven't had, that's the only good part,is how it brings everyone together to communicate, but for fishing this area is the lousiest area and if yours is worst let me know.I'd like to know an area worst than mine where everyone is saying how awful it is nothing is biting and the waters are deadly, because that's what they are saying in my area.I plan to relocate soon because that's a ripoff when you pay for fishing license and not only catch nothing, but if even lucky enough you have to worry about you're health, too. That's just a ripoff for this area.Let me know if any of you ever come to it and how lucky you get, because it's no good in this area.

Has anyone bothered to check if the problem was caused by strip mineing. If so the State Goverment should be able to get something done about it.You might also approach your county officals about this or write /Call your congressman also.Around here the DNR is very proactive about these things also.

I don't know if they checked for strip mineing, but I do know when you contact them about issues, they don't care to fix them. They act like they don't care or it won't be fixed anytime soon, when you're fishing license even expires before they get to working with things. This area is just a big ripoff. That's why I'm planning to relocate.I hear all across the nation like a few of us here and even other sites, some say in their area it nice and moist, not so dry and they still ctch fish, but in my location, nothing's biting and if if does you have to worry about your safety to consume it.I just assume move to a new location, that's what plenty here are doing, because the state government never listens to anything you contact them about even if roads or anything is bad, they just don't care in this state. This isn't a good state to try to contact the local congress.I just plan to relocate and leave the problems at that in this area,so then I'm in a better location with more fishing luck and where it's safer to consume them, than in this area.

Mc minnville Tn like I said at the top. It's no good in this city. You have to go to the next city to catch anything good.Everyone here isn't pulling out much of anything even boaters are coming back emptyhanded, asking shore fisherman if they caught anything.Where do you fish pepsidrinker? How are the conditions where you live? The area I live is lousy and I plan to relocate soon.I only gave the city and state so you know if you haven't yet come to this city,DON'T,it will be a dissapointment for fishing.

Retired psg thanks for your input on contacts and possibilities of what's harming the waters, but I will relocate some time because they don't care in this state what's wrong with these waters, maybe if you're in the big cities, but not one as small as this one. When I relocate it will be a nicer area, less dry, better fishing and safer quality for fish. Can't enjoy fishing while being here, because there's either no fish biting or it's risky to have if they do,so I have to miss out on the fun of fishing for now or keep traveling to the next city to have a good day of fishing, but not in the city I live,it's falling apart.None of you wanna try here and if you do,give me a holler when you hook something fresh and safe,LOL.That would be great news if anyone gets lucky here, because so far noone is much lucky here.

Good luck catching whoppers retired psg!

I don't know what that link is for.It won't load.I dont care about the BS anymore. As far as I'm concerned it's over.I'm trying to see how good fishing is around the nation compared to here. All I know is I plan to relocate. My area is lousy. How is fishing where you're from? What state do you fish in?I'm trying to think where it would be good to relocate and what states have good fishing going on.

Lookinig at the general area that you live in....you are pretty close to some famous fishing waters like Center Hill and Percy Priest.....among other decent reservoirs within 30 miles or so....

Are you talking about those as not being good...or just the small waters near the town?

I'm talking about the town I live which is an hour away from there.Center Hill is a great hole.I don't know if you saw it or not,but a year or 2 ago a man was in the NAFC magazine who caught a 5O pound catfish.I fished there,it was great, but I prefer to try a whole new state. The city I live in is no good. What is your location and how are the fish biting where you live?My town is slowly drying out.Everyone even boaters are returning emptyhanded where I live.

fishermanj I'm from NE Pa. I have a fishing camp in N.Y. state a short distance from Seneca Lake. Pete is up here with me and we boxed three laketrout today put 4 small ones back and lost 2. That was from 11:15 am to 4ish when the rain came and we headed in. This area is full of lakes with LakeOntario north of it and Lake Eirie west. Good luck the next time you get out. I've posted some picture of todays go around down in the state section Pa. , The Three Amigo's thread if your interested drop in and take a look. Sorry to hear about the sad shape the water is in where you live and hope folks wake up to make it better.

fj, has your area been in a drought the last few years? I know some areas of the south have had it pretty bad. That could be affecting some of the waters. Low dissolved oxogen levels and such?

Here's my general area....looking at the map, you will see that it's about 30 miles from Red Wing to Wabasha.....so that will give you an idea as to how big the lake is...

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&a...6&z=11

If you zoom out on that map you'll see where I'm at in the US. Also....if you follow the Mississippi River south and east from there you will see La Crosse, WI, which is where we have had the La Crosse Meet for the last 5 years....and it's where Rod Tender, Lazarus, retired-psg and fish-a-holic have all met, fished and camped together. It starts on July 15th....but I will be there on the 13th.

I haven't been able to get out much yet this year as not only do I have some repair work to do on the house....but have a little boat repair to get done too...

Yeah alot of yalls areas look nice, but mine,it will never recover from its condition,it been like that for 2 years now hardly no bites out there,no matter what gear you use, even a $20 lure wouldn't work in my area.I've bought hundreds of different lures from bass pro, cabela's,there's also Dicks Sporting goods and it's like nothing gets anything to bite. This is just a lousy area and I'm gonna relocate soon.It like there's no fishing where I am everywheres in my town is drying out and no fish are biting. It's good to know that it's not the whole US,at least then I know I can find a better place, but wherever you visit,if it's for fishing don't let it be Mc Minnville TN.That is the lousiest area you can possibly find out there and if any of you ever travel here and get lucky, give me a holler,I'd like to know how, because everyone here says the same thing."DID YOU CATCH ANYTHING,I HAVEN'T" and that's boaters too,so let's face it,this isn't a place you would go to fish.Center Hill is a great place,I've went there a bunch and pulled out alot of keepers, but as lousy as it is here, you would never need to use a drag on your reel here, because they're all little or not biting, like they're slowly dying in the water. You don't even see them jumping out of the water much anymore like you would years ago,so I just plan on relocating soon to a better environment, because mine just isn't any good anymore for fishing.

There probably is a lot of gas and oil getting in our waters from personal experience and knowing my fishing buddy's boat and I don't particularly like it; but I also think you'd have a terrible time rowing on a bigger lake or even using a trolling motor when the wind kicks up. Until motors get super efficient, don't leak gas, and are also more affordable; we're going to have to live with it.

I feel like it's ok to come back now. My prediction is that gas outboards will never be outlawed, but unless there is a major breakthrough we may see the demise of the two stroke. The newer 2 stroke motors are vastly cleaner and more fuel efficient than even 10 yrs ago, but still can't match the 4 stroke motors, and with the tech improvements that are coming out of the automotive sector the 4 srokes will only get better. You guys do know that a Honda 115 uses the same basic engine as a Civic. Tom

Yep it's ok to return as you said "pegsguy" we already changed that topic long ago because it was nearly costing our memberships according to terms and what it was bringing out of us,so leave it as it was Dead and gone.It don't mean you can't post your comment.I'm just letting you know that topic was over with long ago."Lovetwofish" it would be tough to get around without them at a bigger lake, not just that you have windy days,of course, but that's why it was said long ago that there should be cleaner ones like what "pegsguy" described and actually there is no improvement nomatter what field you look at,not just waters, alot of other things to look at,too, that could use improvement,so why worry about it?!Leave that topic like it was before, forgotten and changed for the best.We changed it to something new like "how your waters are" as we were last mentioning, which is a better topic,so take care and good luck on the water!

Those new 2 strokes are nice and much cleaner.

The one good thing about them is they are alot lighter than a 4 stroke. You are right, the 4 stroke will just get better.
