I don't have acess to a boat so I fish from the shore. I'm lookin for a good fishfinder that is portable and you can use it from the shore. Does anyone know a good fishfinder that is good for using from the shore? Thanks in advance.

Alex, I used to use a bottomline sidefinder and a small 12v Cabelas battery and it worked pretty good.

Humminbird makes one that you can cast out and the screen is like a watch that you wear. It is called the Smart Cast.

Did anyone notice that the original post date is over 3 years old? I would advise anyone purchasing a SmartCast to pick up a couple extra transducers- they like to fail.

my brother got a smart cast when they first came out never had a problem with it though compared to most fishfinders it defininetly has its limitations he uses it mainly to find water depth and to look for dropoffs etc
