Everybody,I purchased 2 spools of Powerpro 30lb.It doesn`t seem to hold certain knots very well and on one pole I snaged and it seem to break pretty easy,Is this a common problem or did I get a bad batch? Please let me know if you`ve had the same problems.
The 9 year old spiderwire 20lb seemed stronger.

Old Fart sounds like you got a bad batch, I've got some on one of mine and have had none of the problems you talked about.

I try not to use PP, mostly because of it's casting properties, but I've not had it break that easily.  I do know it is somewhat abrasion resistant against branches + stuff, but rocks, coral, barnicles will cut it like butter.  I prefer Sufix myself, but helped a buddy close a store, so I have a bunch of it for sale at way below retail if you want more.

As far as knots, most braids will slip. 95% of the time I tie on flouro leader with uni-to-uni and use that to tie on tackle... the palomar is the only one I know won't slip with braid.

Rallen3; I`m going to replace it Just havn`t got around to it yet.I`ll try Suffix on one and maybe Fireline on the other. My third pole will get Spiderwire. All 30lb test. It`s time to compair and find the best braided line. When catching big cats line is everything.Knots were changed no more problem.
PSG; glad to hear your not having problems with it.Maybe just a bad batch??

I bought a bunch of new gear/takle this year.It seems the stuff made in China has defects or poor quality manufacturing.Steel 4``leaders not crimped.Hooks not properly tempered``easy bend soft``So check your new takle before use!!!!

hey old fart, i have used power pro for 4 or 5 years and consider it one of the tuffest most castable line on the market. i run 20lb with a 6lb dia, the other night we were catfishing and i reeled in a 30lb snapping turtle. boy wasn't he pissed. when i got him on shore he reached up with a front claw and ripped the hook out of his mouth straitening the hook. this happens on 80% of all snags,  i mostly  use a trilene knot but the polamer is what they say to use. i don't know what to tell you other than you got a bad batch, i fish a lot kids are all grown up threw the wife out and i'm on the water 5 times a week and we catch a lot of fish and alot of species from the ocean to onterio, i'm a brand knew member and will be posting some pics soon        fishon and have fun Bye mike

Mike fishon,I think it must be a bad batch too. It`s not the knot breaking its the line.Regardless i`ll never use it again.Switching back to spiderwire, so I know its reliable.

Old Fart: I had a bad experience with the SW stealth and went to Power Pro. I was in the boonies 900 miles from home and bought what I could find. If you are not having problems with the stealth fraying, I may just give it a second chance, but not on a trip out of town! Tom

all i use is power. i got the 65 pound on my catfish pole 30 pound on all my other poles and 20 pound on my crappie pole.... never had a problem. i've got it stuck in a tree took me 15 minutes to pole it out then half hour later got it snaged on rocks yanking it was pulling it out so i tightened it all the way down and it took 3 times of running the other direction to get it out never even frayed the line. lure was still on in perfect condition
