King Salmon Sport Fishing Regulations Liberalized! Effective May 3 - August 30, 2005 sport fishing regulations in Southeast Alaska are liberalized to provide additional harvest opportunities for king salmon. The new regulations are as follows:
Alaska residents: bag and possession limit of three king salmon 28 inches or greater in length; no annual limit.
Nonresidents: bag and possession limit of one king salmon 28 inches or greater in length; annual limit of five fish.
A few king salmon have been picked up locally although the wind hasn't been too good for getting out on the water. We are expecting an above average return of king salmon to the Chilkat River and fishing will improve in the weeks ahead. We are also expecting a good return of hatchery king salmon to the Skagway Area this year.
It should be a really good King season for those in the southeast, or heading that way via cruise
