I made to Alamo this past weekend. Other than some extreme wind in the early afternoon the weather was great. Alamo has returned to the days of old. Lake level was still high and the Cholla ramp was still closed but the main ramp was open with about 30 feet of the actual ramp showing so no more launching off the road.
The early bite was top waters and buzz baits and lasted until about sunrise. When that slowed down switched to watermelonseed lizards off the points and was getting slammed hard there was no need to guess if something was testing your bait. About 10:30 AM some really immense surface boils erupted and was cranking them in with a top water and rattl-trap. All in all cuaght 15 to 20 a day mostly slot sized fish.
The bad news is the Alamo Store is no more. It has been completely leveled and the lot cleared. I guess the rumor about the State trying to reopen it was either untrue or the plan fell through. I took a couple of pictures if I can get them sized down I will post them in the album section.
