There is a new series starting in Yuma for 2006. Yuma Pro Am. Its a low price draw team series intended to give new people a chance to get out on the water.

One guy criticized the idea. Basically he said people don't want a cheaper series for less money, and I suppose many experienced tournament anglers probably agree with him. Personally I think that is a short sited point of view.

Beginners rarely start by buying a new bass boat so they can go donate several hundred dollars every weekend to experienced anglers.

This series will give people a chance to see if they really want to fish tournaments and maybe learn a thing or two from other anglers.

If you want to see more money in those other series you have to get more anglers interested in the sport. Fish this one and give a new guy a shot at getting out on the water in your back seat.

More anglers on the water means that down the road there will be more anglers in the bigger higher purse tournaments. It means guys who don't know will decide to buy a bass boat, and more tackle. It means there will be more money for wildlife management as well through license fees over the years and excise taxes on all the gear we buy.

In the long term everybody benefits.

If you made it this far check out the info on it at http://www.YumaProAm.com
