Went to Patagonia on Friday. We were in the water by 5:45. We went down about 100 yds off the trailhead near the fish habitat markers. Channel cats were biting there on chicken livers, but we only caught two 2-pounders. Good filet size. Moved over across from the visitor's center and caught two more 2 lbs- one on a hook full of glowing night crawlers and one on chkn lvr. We also caught some hand-sized bluegills on worms. But the most fun I had was catching gills with a gold Super-duper 500 with a five foot light action with a Zebco 11 Triggerspin and 4 lb test. I don't pay much attention to bass activity, but we saw a 2-3 pounder that wouldn't bite a darn thing. It looked as though it was protecting a small school of fry in the reeds from anything that swam or trolled by so we decided to leave that one alone. Some friends of ours caught a 5 pounder on live shad and a good size crappie near the marina.
