Anyone around here do much fly fishing. I'm thinking about taking a course out at the college to learn the basics. Just curious if anyone on here fly fished much and where and for what. Take it easy!

Well, I haven't fly fished Arkansas yet... But I plan to this summer.  After what Larry told me, and what I learned and AR Game and Fish website, Almost every river is stocked yearly with Rainbows.  ALso, if you're into fly-tying, a few poppers really do the trick for smallies up here, and probably for largemouths down there.  If you don't tie, maybe I could drop a few off when I visit in may or I'll send ya some.  Just let me know.  Any questions on fly-fishing, let me know.  I have done countless hours of research so I can better understand what I believe to be the hardest and by far the fanciest form of fishing available.  I'm not a trout snob by any means.  I just feel that a fine fly cast is as majestic a work of art as a painting of the mountains in Denver.  It's a beautiful work of art and a challenge that I enjoy rising to daily.  Let me know how ya fair.

I've only gotten out a couple of times with the fly rod. Once below Carpenter Dam back before the new year (I should really hit this again now) and at a pond in the WMA of Degray.  I was able to get bluegill interest but nothing serious enough to actually take the lure.  I hope to get some time soon but between work, school, and everything else its hard to get away.  BTW when you visit in May holler at me if you want someone to fish with and I'll try to get away.

Alright justin!!! Sounds like fun dude.  I'll definitely have to let you know when I find out the week!  By the way, wait on the flies... Come march or april, that's when they stock the area with trout.  The trout can't survive in Arkansas in the summer, it gets too hot.....  However, I hope to hear about the fishin' come next season!  Look forward to hearin from ya again.
