Has anyone done much fishing for CA heritage trout? I know the dfg has info about them on their website, what species and where to find them but has anyone had much luck? And where? If you have caught any what species and what flys worked best? I live in San Jose and I hear there are a couple streams with heritage trout but my environmentalist friend tells me the streams are muddy with almost no visibility. I look forward to some feedback!

I was wondering if anyone has caught any of these local species. Before I read this site I didn't know there were cutthroats in ca! Catching these natives is much more challenging than catching just hatchery trout.

I have fly fished and caught the one out of the Kern River. Now I think they closed the water and stocking of reg Bows because some group got butt hurt about some frogs and minnows that are not seen as much and are blaming it on the Trout.... Wait, aren't there birds, snakes and other animals that eat the same thing??? Duh, I forgot we are the ones at fault( Dumb PETA people ).

Well, with any luck and structure in my current standing, I hope to head that way when my son is on Spring break. Fly rod in hand... Trout Chaser, hope to be able to wet a line and swap sea stories.

Are you guys even going to have a Salmon season??? Let alone trout? I have heard that some wack jobs have launched law suits because of a frog and a minnow have diminished.....
