The higher the altitiude the colder the water. So the warm water fish such as catfish. largemouth, ec... can't survive. About mid altitude you might find some smallmouth bass. Then cold water fish at hgher elevations such as trout, char, etc...
Examples (I am from Utah so I will use lakes that I know):
Low elevation lakes/reservoirs:
Utah lake- walleye, white bass, panfish, lmbass, catfish
willard bay- walleye, wipers, lm bass, crappie, catfish
mid elevation lakes:
Pineview reservoir- tiger muskie, yellow perch, bullhead catfish, crappie, lm bass smallmouth bass, some trout
Jordanelle reservoir- yellow perch, smallmpouth bass, mountain white fish, brown and rainbow trout
Starvation reservoir- Walleye, perch, smbass, trout
high elevation lakes(ie uintas)-all lakes will have either brook trout, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, or grayling
Strawberry reservoir- rainbow and cutthroat trout
I hop this helps.
Fishing and Trains, what else is there?
